SLC
MOVIE NIGHT
Movie night was a huge success thanks to all the hard work from SLC students, Mrs. Lenoir, and Mrs. Branda! We had record turn out and are thankful for everyone that spent their Friday night at Homestead. All funds raised will be used toward community services projects, which are voted on by SLC.
The next movie night will be held in December and more details will be provided in November.
GHOST, BAT, AND PUMPKIN POPS
Ghost, bat, and pumpkin pops sales are off to an amazing start. Students are pumping out pops as fast as the orders are coming in. Students are working before school and during lunch to fill orders, so please be patient.
SLC is taking orders until October 27, 2022. All proceeds from pops will be used toward community service projects voted on by SLC.

The Red Ribbon Week Pep Rally will be held on October 24, 2022 at 2:30 PM and will feature a live band and a fashion show. The poster winners will be announced and SLC members will perform a skit. Big thank you to Mrs. Johnston for securing the band!
MUSIC
4th and 5th grade students took a risk with a traditional folk dance from Jalisco, Mexico titled “Los Machetes.” Traditionally this dance showcased a harvesters skill with a Machete. Thankfully no appendages or body parts were harmed thanks to our faux Machetes a.k.a. rhythm sticks.
2nd and 3rd graders studied La Raspa, a Folk Song and Dance from Veracruz, Mexico.
Veracruz is on the Gulf Coast and is a city where people could sell and share goods and traditions from all over the world. This dance blends traditional dances such as the Czech polka and steps from the indigenous Yaqui people. These are then combined with European rhythms for a fun and lively dance.
HEALTH
This week in health the wonderful Mrs. Troup covered the following topics:
- Kindergarteners learned the 5 senses
- 1st graders studied body systems
- 2nd graders mastered the parts of the brain
- 3rd graders took a closer look at the eye ball
- 4th graders studied teeth and learned the reason beavers and porcupines have orange teeth
- 5th and 6th graders explored the brain and cells within
Next week is also a health week and we look forward to learning more fun facts!
FLAG FOOTBALL
Huskies took on Nunaka, Willow Crest, and Rilke Schule on Wednesday night and crushed it! Students played their hearts out and had amazing sportsmanship. Huskies travel to Taku Elementary next week to take on three more teams. Go Huskies! Thank you for Coach Payne and Mr. Noyes for bring so great!
