Expectations After Hours/ Attendance at Sporting Events
We need your help. Over the course of the last few months, we have seen an increase in students attending after-school events/practices/programs. While we are thrilled with the participation, the increase in unsupervised students after hours is making it difficult for staff to manage and supervise, especially at the high school. Our custodians are also finding it difficult to perform their nightly cleaning duties in school buildings as their time is consumed monitoring, redirecting, and picking up after the students.
We kindly ask that you DO NOT drop off your students to attend an athletic event unattended or unsupervised. Please remind your child/ren when dropping them off for a practice/program that they go directly to the practice/program, and are not in locations where they are unsupervised.
Our event expectations are listed on our district website, under the Arts/Activities/Athletics website. Please review with your child/ren and help us to enforce the following event expectations.
For our high school students, it’s important to follow the rules, pick up after themselves in our school buildings, and be respectful of those individuals and things around them. Continue to be good examples for our younger learners in our buildings.
If you have questions or concerns, we look forward to hearing from you. By partnering together, we can maintain a safe and orderly environment at our Warrior home events and in our school buildings after the school day has ended.

Recognition Seniors Receive at Graduation
Over the next few months, information will be shared regarding the June 3, 2023 graduation.
For your convenience, here are some details regarding senior recognitions.
Gold honor cords are awarded for cumulative GPAs of 3.6 or higher at the end of the first semester of senior year. Laude cords are awarded in addition to the gold honor cords as follows:
A student’s Laude score will be determined by multiplying the student’s cumulative GPA after the first semester of their senior year by the number of “advanced” semester courses completed in all four years as listed on the Advanced Courses chart on page 20 of the handbook (including the courses they will take in the second semester of their senior year).
There are three levels of awards:
- Summa Cum Laude (purple cord)
- Magna Cum Laude (silver cord)
- Cum Laude (white cord)
- 56+ Summa Cum Laude
- 40 – 55.999 Magna Cum Laude
- 24 – 39.999 Cum Laude
Watch for further information regarding honors, the laude system, etc., to be shared soon!
▫️▫️ COUNSELING DEPARTMENT CONNECTION ▫️▫️
Student schedules for 2nd semester may need to be adjusted to balance sections more evenly in order to better serve our students and staff overall. It should be noted that no schedule change requests will be accepted, unless you meet one of the following reasons:
Your schedule is incomplete (missing a course during a certain hour) or overbooked (more than one course is scheduled in the same hour.)
You have two study halls on the same day.
You failed 1st semester of a year-long course.
You are enrolled in the apprenticeship or early college credit program(s) (ECCP) and need work release or release to attend outside classes.
You have an IEP or 504 plan in which your case manager recommends a change.
Questions or concerns may be discussed with your school counselor. Thank you for understanding as our school community continues to grow.
2023-2024 Course Registration Information
All current 9th, 10th, 11th grade students, and parents/guardians were sent an email via Infinite Campus on 1/13/23 detailing information about 2023-2024 Course Registration. In an effort to make information available to students and families, all registration information can be found on our Counseling Department Website, including the 2023-2024 Course Guide, the Course Registration Timeline, and Course Information by Grade. The Counseling staff will be available for students on 1/31/23 and 2/1/23 in the PAC during Contact Time for Course Registration support. Students may sign up in FlexiSched under Counseling for one of these dates if they have questions or need assistance.
Please Note: There will NOT be an opportunity for students to change their course requests once the window of registration is completed so staffing can be appropriately planned for the 2023-2024 school year.
REMINDER for Junior Class Families
The Post Prom Planning Committee reminds parents/guardians to attend the meeting on Wednesday, January 25 at 6:00 PM in Community Room B at the Village Center. All are welcome.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS VISIT
Host a student from France for 3 weeks!
Waunakee High School students have the opportunity to host a student from France for 3 weeks: February 12 - March 2. The French visitors are in a special English-language school program and are eager to experience life in the US while improving their already strong English skills. This is also a great opportunity for our Waunakee French students to practice their French, although you do not have to have a student enrolled in French to participate. Make new friends and have an intercultural experience without leaving home! Please see the attached flyer for more information and to apply.
