Teacher Laptop Upgrade
Teacher Laptop Questions and Answers
Teachers are now turning in the old laptops for the new laptops and we are receiving a number of inquiries for what will happen to these old laptops. So I wanted to take a moment to let everyone know what the replacement process looks like.
Everyone who has not already done so, will need to submit a work order through Eduphoria prior to November 18th, 2019.
Help Desk> Technology >> Computer (Desktop or Laptop) >>> NEW Laptop (Teacher)
Please make sure you have backed everything that you want to keep to your Crowley ISD Microsoft One Drive or Google My Drive. These are both online storage provided by the district for you to utilize. After you replace your computer, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RETRIEVE any of the items on that computer. Please back up your data.
Currently the Board-approved Technology Plan recommends the following:
- Assess the condition of all teacher laptops turned in to the Technology Department. Place them in four categories: 1 - Grade A (Working and no blemishes and/or damage); 2 - Grade B (Working; some small blemishes/damage on outer casing); 3 - Grade C (Working but outer casing is broken or damaged); 4 - E-Waste (Product is not working and is damaged)
- Take the Grade A laptops and refurbish & reallocate to select office paraprofessional staff members on the campus.
- Offer to sell the remaining Grade A and B laptops to faculty and staff; commensurate with CMD local board policy. Unfortunately, Teachers and Staff will not be able to simply buy their own laptop. The version of Windows we use requires authentication to our district servers, and we need to assess ALL laptops prior to making available to purchase.
- All Remaining laptops - sell them to a district approved re seller to offset the cost of projector replacement throughout the district.
The process for purchasing can not begin until all inventory of the older laptops have been replaced. So, please make sure to get your work saved online and a work order for replacement put into Eduphoria!
If you experience issues with your laptop, please put in a work order through Eduphoria! or contact the help desk for assistance. 817-297-5873
