Spring 2023 After School Tutoring
Tutoring is held from 3:20 pm-4:20 pm every Tuesday and Thursday in the CCMS Media Center. During this one-hour session, our tutors work with students in the areas of reading and math in an effort to improve skills. Additionally, students will have an opportunity to improve their classroom grades and complete classroom assignments.
If you have any questions or if you would like to enroll your student, please email our Transformational Specialist and After School Coordinator, Betsy Jones eejones@jefcoed.com.
Resources for Reading At Home
Reading with your student is essential for supporting continued growth and academic
achievement. Parents often ask teachers how they can support their student's learning at
home if teachers aren’t sending nightly homework. We are fortunate to have several resources that students can access from home that will support their learning. Please view the Resources for Reading at Home attachment for information about online reading apps and conversation starters.

McWane Center Summer Teen Volunteer Program
The Summer Teen Program is an opportunity for service-focused students to share their passion for science by leading hands-on demonstrations, helping with summer camps, and interpreting McWane exhibits in an effort to help our visitors connect and engage with STEM in an accessible way. They are an integral part of our efforts to spark wonder and curiosity about our world and show our community that science is for everyone!
In this program, McWane volunteers gain valuable leadership skills in a fun, hands-on environment and get to strengthen their public speaking skills while developing a strong work ethic. This volunteer program emphasizes the professional development of its participants and is a unique opportunity for students to see how STEM can apply to everyday situations.
If you have students interested in improving their communication skills, learning how to work with a team, and want to pursue their STEM related interests, you should encourage them to apply! To apply for the program, candidates will submit an online application with an attached resume and two letters of recommendation. All new candidates will participate in an interview after they apply. The application deadline is April 1, 2023.
Parents, please check the counselor's website for academic and mental health resources.
