Classroom News
From the littlest ones...
To our older ones...
Because "we've all been there" we know what kids can be like.
Sometimes in our classrooms we struggle with students. Listening, respecting, cellphone use and maybe even attending. These are all normal things. As the director of children's ministries I am always here to help in any way I can. I do not have all the answers, but am more than willing to talk to any teacher or parent that needs to discuss something. We are all in this together. There is nothing more important than your child's faith journey.
What can you do to help:
There are many things that pull at our kids today. Sports, jobs, friends and especially in this day, entertainment (specifically tech). As parents you need to make choices for your families, and that can look different for everyone. It is not my intention to make anyone feel pressured.
But, I do want to encourage you to make church, and the activities planned for your kids a priority. The directors and leaders give a lot of time and effort to plan lessons and also events your kids will enjoy. It is not an easy job and without parent support it seems an even larger struggle. When we do not support the things going on in our kids ministries we are saying to them that we don't find them important.
Here are some things you can discuss with your kids:
1. Attendance.
2. No cell phones out during class.
3. Discuss at home what respect for the teacher is.
4. Talk about ways they can be a leader in the classroom.
Most of these things affect our older students, but struggles are in the lower grades too. Remind your kids about the expectations we handed out at the beginning of the year. Do you need to go over them again?
Reminders can always help.
By working together we can help our kids get the most out of the time they have in the classroom. And hopefully what they learn will help them grow closer to Christ.
Please feel free to come to me with any questions or concerns.
