MacArthur K-8 University Academy School-Wide Calendar 2023-2024

August & September Monthly Character Trait: Respect

Respect is a really important word that means treating people and things in a nice and kind way. It's about showing that you care about others and their feelings, just like you would want them to care about you.

Imagine you have a friend or a classmate. If you listen when they talk and don't interrupt, that's showing respect. It means you value what they have to say.

Also, think about your belongings and other people's belongings. If you treat them gently and take care of them, that's showing respect for things.

Respect is like using good manners. Saying "please" and "thank you" to your teachers, parents, and friends shows that you appreciate them.

So, in simple words, respect is being kind, polite, and considerate to everyone and everything around you. It helps make the world a happier and more peaceful place.

Report Absences in MiStar

We are asking all families to use MiStar to report absences. You no longer need to call the main office to report any absences.

Away For The Day (Cell Phones)

All students must keep their cell phones in their lockers during the day. When students enter the building, students must place their cell phones in their backpacks and then in their lockers.

This also means even when your student isn't feeling well or is injured they must go to the Main Office so they can get evaluated and not use their cell phones to text to go home. First and foremost it is the school's policy to not use cell phones at all during the day and they must be kept in their locker. Parents, please have a conversation with your student about this.
