Did you know that Taj Mahal is one of the, "Seven Wonders of the World?" If no, then it was elected as one of the, "Seven Wonders of the World," in the year of 2007 and still is today. This monument was created by a man who loved his wife and when she died he felt terrible. So he built this monument after her, as a symbols of her beauty. Through this essay you will learn many important facts that you may or may not have known. This essay will highlight the history of the monument, how it is appreciated, and it's visual value to its surroundings and culture.

The History

The history of Taj Mahal goes way back in time to the year, 1631, when building began. The building was built for a "man's love for a woman." The Moghul Emperor, Shah Jahan built this building for his wife, Mumtaz Mahal. This white mausoleum was going to have an identical black one but the emperor was thrown into prison by his son who seized the throne,and due to that, it didn't happen. This mausoleum was made after his wife passed away with his 14th child. This white marble mausoleum has changed in color due to the pollution in the air. In the year 2007, Taj Mahal was chosen as one of the "Seven Wonders of the World."

How it is Appreciated

This monument is appreciated because it was chosen as one of the "Seven Wonders of the World." It also has many tourist and is usually busy, because it is a year-round attraction. In 2010,about 6.1 lakh tourists had visited the Taj. The number went up to about 6.7 lakh in 2011 and further to about 7.9 lakh in 2012. years.There were about 7.9 lakh visitors in 2012. While the number came down to about 7.4 lakh in 2013, then even lower to about 6.9 lakh in 2014. As a temple, Taj Mahal is kept clean. But due to pollution the monument is not in its best color. But naturally the Taj Mahal changer color depending on the weather and amount of light in the sky.

Visual Value to its Surroundings and Cultural

The Taj Mahal enhances visual value to it surroundings and culture by using it as a church. Every Friday Taj Mahal is closed for visiting because this is the day many Muslims come for church. Taj Mahal have two buildings that are located on both sides of the monument. One is a Mosque, and the other one it called the Jawab. The mosque is the temple that many Muslims go to. The architecture is precisely measure so that if something were to happen to the columns then they would fall but would not affect the monument because of the special architecture of the monument.
