St James' School Term 1 Week 9
Newsletter 31 March 2021
Our Vision: To grow Catholic, Christian young people,
who are confident, connected lifelong learners, inspired by the teachings of Jesus, and who make a positive difference in their community.
Kia ora Koutou
Twelve months ago, we could not take part in any Holy Week and Easter activities as we were in Level 4 lockdown. It has been lovely to once again this year take part in Holy week and ponder its significance and meaning for our lives. This year I'm pondering - God calls us to participate in Life - this One Life we call God. This is our vocation - to find our niche in that One Larger Life.
Last weekend, I enjoyed playing three games of hockey for the Manawatu Men's 55-59 Masters Hockey Team. We won one and lost two games; however, the weekend reminded me of a gift I was given. I was very fortunate to have a mum and dad who drove me around the countryside to play hockey from the age of 7, and I am still playing some 50 years later. The gift my parents gave me has lasted a lifetime of enjoyment, fitness, skill and friendships. I encourage you to support your children and get them involved in some winter sport this year. It may be the start of a lifelong passion.
Recently Andrea Cawood and I drove to YMCA Camp Raukawa for an orientation visit. Andrea will be sending out Year 5 and 6 camp info in due course. We are going to the camp from Tuesday 16 Nov to Friday 19 November.
Everyone is looking forward to a few days of rest over Easter - thanks for a great Lent and Holy week and blessings to you all for Easter 2021.
