From the great Dr. Tim
Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser is a HUGE advocate for music education and student leadership. He always has words of wisdom for Educators. Here is a video he created just for the students. Please watch and enjoy.
A Special Message to Students from Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser
If you need to get a hold of Mr. B, you can contact him through Remind or email
Parents!
Please encourage you child to practice around 10 minutes a day on their concert music. Sometimes students go into performances not knowing their part in a piece. We can’t have that happen, everyone has an equal part in contributing to a song and we need everyone to dedicated a small portion of their day to personal musical improvement. They have SmartMusic assignments! Please ask them to get these done!

Due April 1
- SmartMusic assignments (1 scale, 1 excerpt from concert literature)
Due April 3
- SmartMusic assignments (1 scale, 1 excerpt from concert literature)
- Drum Major Application
Drum Major Application
The Drum Major Application is in Google Classroom and is available for download. However, in this time of weirdness you can type everything out and email Mr. B the application. Also, if you type out the teacher recommendation or have them email Mr. B the answers, that will be perfectly acceptable.
Student Leadership
One very special thing that is happening during our time of seclusion is that many places are offering up free things! One is a very special Leadership Training. If you see below, Scott Lang is planned to come out and do a Leadership course on June 10. Scott Lang has opened up his online Leadership course in which I HIGHLY ENCOURAGE ALL CURRENT STUDENT LEADERS, JUNIORS, SENIORS, and ANY SOPHOMORES & FRESHMAN interested in Leadership to create and account "purchase" All of the leadership class (they are free). and once you are all done you will get a certificate of completion and you will send it to Mr. Brunger. Don't rush through it and please turn in this certificate by the end of April.
OMEA All-State Concert Band appilcation
Every year OMEA opens up the opportunity for any Band student to apply for membership to the OMEA All-State Band. In the history of the program, we have only had 1 Middie that made it. Are you interested? Will you be next? Click HERE to see application and musical requirements. Also, click HERE for scholarship info.
The event will be in Columbus February 4-6, 2021
The application process opened up March 1 and closes May 31
A very SPECIAL Student Leadership Day
On June 10 at Westlake High School from 2:30-5:30, Mr. Brunger will be bringing in Scott Lang. Who is Scott Lang? He is one of the front runners in High School Band Leadership. Many of the Leadership philosophies we use are from him and we get a chance to work with him in person! Midview and 4 other schools will take their student leaders to Westlake's Auditorium and train to become the best leaders they can be for the 2020 Marching Blue. In order to become a student leader, Midview Band Members must attend this conference. We are looking to have 40 Middies go to this conference so Seniors will be expected to attend as well.
Scott Lang is inspirational, very enthusiastic, a lot of fun, and actually has helped recruit you for 6th grade Band! (Do you remember the "Be Part of the Band" info? That was Scott!
