February 24th AMSHS Weekly Update
Building independent lifelong learners.
Hello Warrior Family!
Parent/Teacher Conferences are less than a month away. We know your time is valuable and your schedules busy, but we ask you make conferences a priority so we can share with you student progress and concerns. Mrs. Carlock will be available for any post graduate questions and we invite students to come as well. The class who has the best attendance will receive a Sonic drink party.
Congratulations to Mr. Shoush our staff member of the week! Another staff member wrote, “Mr. Shoush went above and beyond to honor the memory of a former Albany wrestler at this year’s tournament. The family and friends gathered for the dedication had nothing but great things to say about their day back at AHS.” Thank you Mr. Shoush for all you do for the students at AMSHS.
Lots of things happening in Warrior Country so read the update carefully and if you have any questions, let us know.

FFA Game Time With the FFA
6th Grade Field Trip
6th grade had the opportunity to explore Maya architecture and cultural accomplishments in immersive exhibition spaces at Union Station in Kansas City. They saw, and sometimes even felt, different pieces of jewelry, pottery, artwork, and glyphs. Students also learned about the different possible causes of their collapse as a once thriving civilization.
AMS Winter Formal
Middle School Leadership Crew hosted a Winter Formal last weekend. AMS students dressed up, ate snacks, hung out with friends, and danced the night away. A special thanks to Mrs. Jensen, Mrs. Runnels, and Mrs. Carlock for sponsoring the leadership crew and helping them organize these events.

Important Information About Student Academics
Official Grade Check is today. Teachers will be contacting parents of students who are on the ineligibility list. Per our handbook policy, students who are not eligible are not allowed to attend any extracurricular activities or functions. Ineligible students may attend practice but cannot dress out for games. If you have any questions, please contact your child's teacher, coach, or the office.
Each student is allotted 7 days to be absent each semester without a doctor's note. If your child is absent, please contact the office and bring a doctors note upon return so their absence is excused and not counted towards these 7 days. If your child has more than 7 unexcused absences, they will need to attend Monday school to receive semester credit.
Students receive independent reading time daily in class so we have decided to incorporate the AR program into your child's classroom grade. Each teacher has a plan on how this will be accomplished. This information was shared with students. If you have any questions, please contact your child's teacher.
Students who have more than 3 missing assignments could serve lunch detention so they can work on missing assignments.
The handbook policy states students may have 7 absences per semester. Please make sure you turn in doctor's notes to the office. Monday school notes went home this week with students. Monday school is by appointment only. If your child needs to schedule a session, please call the office.
Per our handbook policy, after the 6th tardy, students will serve an after school detention. Please see the disciplinary section of the handbook for more information about our tardy policy.
