American Society 1880-1920

Rockefeller was the founder of standard oil company and this was a great time because oil is very valuable. Many people that invested in this became very wealthy very quickly. This is advantage in a positive outcome on what they put into this company.
The transcontinental railroad was to be proud of. The railroads improve trading but also helped importing goods back-and-forth. There are so many different borders and lots of land and this was a major vantage of reaching those points. Without this railroad they would not of achieved many of the things that they did.
The Bessemer process was a great advantage and something to be very proud of. It was a first process that words in a positive way and help them. The process was also claim to be independently discovered in 1851 by then then dear William Kelly.
Chinese exclusion act required the few non-laborers who saw entry to obtain certification from the Chinese government.it was one of the most significant restrictions on three emigration in the US, profanity all immigration of Chinese labors.this act was a US federal law signed by President Chester Arthur on May 6, 1882.
The goldrush was found at Sutters mail. It also attracted people from Latin America, Europe, Australia, Asia. This goldrush led to the creation of California. When people started finding out what was going on in California they moved up there to try to get some gold for themselves.
Nativism was the policy of protecting the interests of native born or establish inhabitants against those of immigrants.This was also an anti-immigration movement which favor those descended from that inhabitants of the original 13 colonies.
The populist party was a negative fact because of all the farmers and their crops that were failing the farmers were suffering. They did not have stuff to live off of because of all the damage that was going on. This would be considered negative and not helping so American society was ashamed of what had happened.
Rural and urban migration was a negative but also a positive effect. Many people are leaving and there is overpopulation which led to it negative effect in cities and upset people. Another negative effect would be because of the pollution. One positive thing would be that they got to go somewhere that had a stable place and that's why they migrated.
The gilded age was a time. When the society of small producers were transformed into an urban society that was dominated by industrial corporations. A national transportation and communication network was also created. There were many different advantages throughout this whole period.
Susan B Anthony played a very important role during the woman suffrage movement. Woman wanted to do more they wanted the right to vote, but they had to go through a very hard time to accomplish what they wanted it was not easy at all. This movement led to the 19th amendment which gives women the right to vote.
Graduated income tax was the more you make the more you pay. It was the 16th amendment. A higher percentage of your income goes to the government. The 16th amendment excepted income taxes from the constitutional requirements regarding direct taxes.
Working conditions were very poor and dangerous for the workers. Triangle shirt waist factory fire kill many people. That showed that the conditions were not sable or safe. They also made children work when they were very young and factories. It was very unsafe for them and they tried to make a law to not allow children to work in factories at a young age.
The Monroe doctrine was a US foreign-policy regarding dominant of the American continent in 1823. It stated that further efforts by European nations to colonize land with states in north or south America would be viewed as acts of aggression regarding US intervention. This policy was best known towards the western hemisphere in 1823. This was something that was a good thing that happened.
The dollar diplomacy encourage the US investment in the south. Taft fruit created this a lot to ensure that financial stability of a region while protecting and extending US commercial and financial interest. Roosevelts loans had been exchanged for the right to choose the head of customs. This was something that they were proud of.
The open door policy was trying to promote equal opportunity for international trade and commerce in China and respect. With this policy and it allowed trade to move faster and different customs to appear in the US society. Without this policy we wouldn't have some of the stuff that we had today so this would be considered a positive effect.
World War I
Wilson's 14 points were different ideas such as open treaties, freedom of the seas, equality in trade, league of Nations, and national self-defense. Wilson purpose the 14th point program for world peace these points relater taken as the base for peace negotiations to end the war in 1918. These 14 points were something to be proud of because they had a good purpose.
Economic rivalries capitalism with its minority ownership of the means of production. There were economic conflicts between Germany and Britain from 1890 and so on. Germany was experiencing rapid industrialization and Britain was competing with them with their manufacturers everywhere in the globe. So this economic rivalry was not helpful during WWI.
Machine guns inflicted upon link casual tension those were front in World War I. This is a good investment because machine guns were the main killers in World War I. For the man that had these devices, they had an advantage because, these were powerful machines. Guys would hide in trenches and set these guns and then they would shoot the men that were very far away America was very proud when they invented these machine guns.
