Principal's Message
Hello Grizzlies,
We have a lot to celebrate as we head into Spring Break. Congratulations to boy's Basketball as they finished 6th place overall in the state and took home the trophy for Sportsmanship! Our boy's and girl's Snowboarding teams had strong showings at state finals. Also, a big shout out to our Drama and Theater program as Bright Star was selected to perform at the Oregon Thespian Festival. Please see below for more details on all of these great accomplishments.
I hope that you all have a safe, restful and fun Spring Break. Take time to recharge and we look forward to seeing everyone again soon!
Sincerely,
Benjamin Bell
New Mask Policy
Following the Oregon, California and Washington governors’ announcement about the end of the mask mandates, Superintendent Samuel Bogdanove, in his weekly newsletter, explained how these changes will occur in the Ashland School District:
- On March 12, OUTDOOR MASKING in Ashland Schools will become optional.
- On March 19, INDOOR MASKING AND SCHOOL BUSES in Ashland Schools will be optional while local risk levels are low or moderate. The additional week allows time for families with students in high-risk categories needed planning time and time for staff to prepare students and classrooms for the change.
- In the case of a surge or where there is high risk of closure due to spread, masking may be required by the District or by county health.
It’s also important to remember that our teachers and staff have the option to remain masked or to be unmasked in coordination with these dates.
Regardless of the choices that students or staff make, I expect that all of us embody the AHS Code of Conduct: Act Responsibly, Have Integrity and Show Respect. No one should be questioned about why they made the choice to remain masked or to take theirs off after these dates, everyone’s choice is their own and should be respected. Masked or Unmasked, We are all Grizzlies!
Best,
Benjamin Bell
