During 1893, a devastating time throughout Hawaiian political history, the dethrone of the Hawaiian domain was made possible through the authority of Minister John L. Stevens, President William Mckinley, President Grover Cleveland.
Minister John L. Stevens
Minister John L. Stevens was station in Hawaii as a representative of the United States of America. While in Hawaii it is clear that he did not believe that the Hawaiian people were capable of governing themselves. Minister Steven openly supported the idea that Hawaii should be annexed to the U.S. He described the Hawaiian Monarchy as “semi-barbaric.” When Queen Liliuokalani passed the Opium Bill that allowed the Hawaiian government to sell licenses Minister Stevens said that this was “a direct attack on the United States.”

Historical Significance
Grover cleveland. This is an important event that happened in history because it should resemble that Hawaiians are strong and where they come from. It shows that you should always know where you come from and be proud of your race
