MoES News: January 2022
One Team One Goal
Gator Families
Report cards will be coming out soon. Please take time to reflect with your child on their performance and set goals for the upcoming quarter. In addition to setting goals, develop practices and steps to reach those goals. I believe in each and every student and know that they will be successful. For some this requires a little more work than others, but through consistent attendance, a positive attitude, perseverance, and a collaborative partnership between home and school, every student can and will be successful.
In this newsletter you will find updates to the Frederick County guidance on COVID 19, calendar of events for Quarter 3, the importance of attending school, and a few other tidbits of information.
Please emphasize with your child the importance of wearing their masks throughout the school day while fully covering their mouth and nose. Overall, the very large majority of our students are doing a phenomenal job with wearing their masks properly. A few need steady reminders and we appreciate your help in communicating the importance of properly wearing masks, as well as proper and frequent hand washing. We want to keep schools safely open and appreciate any help that you can provide.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out!
Sincerely,
Troy Barnes

Quarter 2 Award's Program
MoES Families,
We will celebrate our students earning honor roll (All A's and B's or All ME and EE's), distinguished honor roll (All A's), and consistetly exhibiting habits of work (perseverance, self-advocacy, social responsibility, and learning mindset). This quarter's program will take place in the student's classroom with their teacher on either Thursday, January 27th or Friday, January 28th. We will not have guests for the first semester, but will re-evaluate after quarter 2. We look forward to recognizing our students for their exceptional work throughout the second quarter.
Attendance and Success
FCPS students have a 180-day school year in keeping with Maryland law. School opens at 8:30am and students are marked tardy at 9:00am. We dismiss beginning at 3:25pm.
Regular daily attendance is expected and critical to a child's academic success. Parents' support of regular daily attendance is essential. Parents are encouraged to notify the school on the day their child is absent. A note stating the reason for absence or lateness is required upon students' return, or the absence is automatically classified as unlawful until an approved note is provided. Students who were absent from school have the responsibility to request make-up work within two days of their return. For details, please see Regulation 400-98.
Attending school regularly (no more than 10 absences) directly correlates with higher academic performance, better social-emotional well-being, improved behavior, high school graduation, and better paying jobs, future, and life.
Let's work together to ensure all students are attending school regularly.
Congratulations
