Parent Input Session for New Principal

Mrs. Bohr, our principal, will be leaving Penny Road to become a principal of a new school in Garner. Her last day with us will be January 31. We will have an interim principal, starting mid-January, until the new principal is hired. Our Assistant Principal, Pat Williams, has been hired by the school board and will also be here part time in January and full time in February. Mrs. Bohr will be able to train our new assistant principal and the interim principal before she moves to her new school.

A parent input session will be held by Dr. Ashlie Thompson on Wednesday, January 17, at 5:30pm in the Penny Road Media Center. This will be a time when she will get input from parents and community members on characteristics and leadership skills you would like to see in the next principal at Penny Road Elementary.

Click the parent input session link above for more details.

Club Picture Day

A photographer will be present at the school the morning of Thursday, January 18 to take our club portraits. If your child is involved in the following clubs/activities, please be on the look-out for information from their club leader regarding dress attire or any props needed for their photo: Drama Club, Tech Club, Chorus, Chess, Junior Librarians, Odyssey of the Mind, Battle of the Books, Art, & Recorders.

McDonald's McTeacher Night

Join your Penny Road friends for a Spirit Night on Thursday, January 18, 5-8 pm at the McDonald’s at Millpond Village (3494 Kildaire Farm Road). Take the night off from cooking! A portion of all sales, both dine in and drive thru, will benefit the school. A flyer will be sent home with students next week.

Penny Road’s Annual Spring Carnival is May 11, 2018!

This year’s Spring Carnival is called Penny’s Beach Blast! Even though Carnival is not until May our committee is already hard at work putting together the event. The committee works on admissions, entertainment, games, food, sponsors, donations, and volunteers for the event. We are looking for more volunteers to help out! The first Carnival planning meeting is on Wednesday, January 31 at 9:15 am. If you have questions or are interested in joining us, please contact Spring Carnival chairs Denise Rose or Jennifer Greco

Teacher Luncheon

The next teacher luncheon will be the “Souper Bowl!” On Friday, February 2, all the teachers will represent their favorite football team and can judge the best soup or chili cooked by none other than our Penny Road Parents. This luncheon will be completely parent donated - and we know that we have some men out there with some awesome chili recipes too, so make sure that they know about the contest!

We will be asking for soups, chili & salads along with desserts and drinks. Please be thinking about what you would able to bring and we will make sure that we get the SignUp Genius out in plenty of time once we get back from the break.
