Alice Buffett Outstanding Teacher Award: As you know, we have some amazing teachers here at Standing Bear and within the Omaha Public Schools! Now is a great time to let them know what a great job they do each and every day! Consider nominating an Omaha Public Schools teacher for the Alice Buffett Outstanding Teacher Award. Anyone can make a nomination (students, former students, parents, staff, etc). Just write about your favorite teacher and tell what he or she has done that has made a difference. For more that 20 years, this award has been given to OPS teachers who have gone above and beyond to help their students in the classroom and in life. Now you have the chance to give that teacher the recognition he or she deserves. Make your nomination by January 15, 2020. Use the link below to submit your nomination!

Important Information from Standing Bear
Building Security
We welcome all parents to visit Standing Bear Elementary. For the safety and security of our students and this building, we require that all parents get a visitor badge from the office when going past the main entrance. If you enter through the cafeteria doors, please also stop by the office if walking your child to their classroom. Thank you for taking the extra steps to help ensure our school is a safe place to learn.
Drop Off Zone
We ask that you please continue to pull all the way down to the second crosswalk if possible (by main front doors). We can then unload around 10 vehicles rather than 5. Also, we have some very excited and responsible "Ambassadors" to assist with opening your car doors for easy drop off.
School Messenger
We will be using the School Messenger (Robo call or email) to communicate this year. Please make sure to contact the office if you need to update your contact information.
Birthday Celebrations
We ask that you contact your child's teacher to determine if there is a good time to bring in birthday items. We ask that all items be non-food items, due to student allergies. Thank you!
