Dear Families,
Many of you may have noticed that our remote learning lessons and assignments are a little different as Carver Elementary teachers are introducing new material. Based on new guidance from the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary education, teachers have begun to focus on content standards that are prerequisites for student success in the next grade level.
Over the next few days and weeks, it will be important to keep the lines of communication open with your child’s teachers so that you are aware of what is being taught and how you can support your child.
Teachers are excited to teach new content. Because students are not in their classroom environment, we need parents to partner with us to help support children in the online learning experience.
As a reminder, please:
make sure students have a quiet designated space for their ZOOM/Google Meets instruction.
support any FLIPPED learning where teachers send out a video or short instructional assignment in advance and students come prepared to discuss at their ZOOM/Google Meets sessions. These will be sent with enough notice to view or read several times, if needed.
communicate with teachers if your schedule changes and you child cannot make a lesson; we can work with you to get the information to your student in an alternative way.
continue helping younger students get online; with new content being covered, we will encourage students to answer any questions from teachers on their own; parents can help by asking their children they learned after the ZOOM/Google meets sessions.
take advantage of teacher office hours, they are posted on the weekly agenda pages.
know that our counselors and administrators will be reaching out to individual families to provide more support, if we observe that your student is not accessing our remote learning plans.
Thank you to the teachers, parents and guardians for ALL the work you are doing to collaborate during remote learning!
