The Bahamas
The Bahamas are a beautiful place as viewed in different pictures across the internet. Because of its appeal to non-residents, the Bahamas has been able to direct much of its economic success to tourism. Other economical factors include financial services and international shipping; at one time, before tourism became such a success, the economy depended upon fishing and agriculture.
Christopher Columbus actually discovered the Bahamas when he landed on San Salvador in October of 1942. However, the first inhabitants of the Bahamas were the Arawak Indians. It is an interesting fact that the Bahamas actually include around 700 islands! Today, the capital of the Bahamas is Nassau, and it has a population of 250,000 as it is also the largest city. The estimated population in 2014 of the Bahamas was 321,834.
In addition to other facts, the Bahamas were granted internal self-government in 1964 and have formed a parliamentary democratic government with the Prime Minister as the head. The Bahamas continue to grow, both economically as it is one of the wealthiest countries in the world, and in its governmental accomplishments.Secret: Fact in the Bahamas is that they have cave underwater.
