Rosary Garden
The month of May is dedicated to our Mother Mary and Our Lady of Angels Catholic School certainly has a special place for her in our hearts. This month we would like to dedicate a special place in our outdoor classroom to Mary by creating an outdoor rosary that would provide for us another opportunity to experience the peace and meditation that the traditional beaded rosary brings to us. This rosary garden would bring together every element of the rosary with stones instead of beads to make up the decades of Christ’s birth, life, and death. We are inspired by the image seen here and are looking for some help with collecting the materials and then creating the rosary itself. If you can help with providing the stones or clearing the space or creating the rosary itself, please contact Mrs. Weller at 780-998-3716 or by emailing her at sandyw@eics.ab.ca

Fine Arts Evening
OLA Fine Arts Evening
Tuesday, May 21, 2019
6:00 - 7:30 pm
Our Lady of Angels Catholic School is excited to invite you to our very first Fine Arts Evening! We will be celebrating the artistic talents of our school community while also supporting Valeda House!
A little bit about the evening
The evening will begin at 6:00 pm with an open gallery walk of art work created by our OLA students. Guests are invited to peruse the art work and visit our gift shop (because every art gallery has one!) any time between 6:00 - 6:45 pm. At 6:45 pm, our attention will turn to our choir and handbells who have prepared a short performance for you to enjoy!
A little bit about Valeda House
Elk Island Catholic Schools is committed this year to supporting Valeda House, a safe and secure temporary shelter for homeless women and children. Schools throughout the district are hosting a variety of events to support this initiative and OLA Catholic School would like to do their part by including a fundraising component to our Fine Arts Evening! There are a few ways that our families can help support this worthy cause during the evening:
1. A silver collection plate will be available for those that wish to make a donation when they come to walk through the gallery
2. Our Grade 4 Servant Leadership Faith Squad and Citizenship Squad have been creating artwork to sell at the gift shop - please stop in!
3. The Kinder Kids have created an art piece to auction off at the end of the evening. Tickets will only be 3 for $1, so bring your loonies!
Please mark your calendars and come out to support our students and the women and children of Valeda House! We look forward to spending the evening with you!

Our Grade 4 students became the teachers! What an amazing job they did of sharing their knowledge about Waste in our World on Friday. And, thanks to everyone's donations, OLA School was able to raise over $200 for Plastic Oceans! Congratulations Lily from 4E on winning the giant Nemo.
