Qur'an (4th-6th) Grades
AS you know, the Noble Qur'an is the literal words of Allah that He revealed as an infallible source of legislation for mankind to live an organized life by. It contains regulations and recommendations about all aspects of life and references to the Hereafter. Being so important, the Qur'an must be read, and recited correctly and clearly, so as not to create any sort of ambiguity or misunderstanding whatsoever.
So, the goal set in my mind is to offer comprehensive Qur’an classes to our students, which guarantee your children to understand the meaning, recite correctly, following all the Tajweed rules because it is obligatory upon us to observe those rules so that we recite Qur'an in the way it was revealed.
We divided the students (4th-6th) to 2 groups according to their levels. In collaboration with the Arabic teacher, Ms. Maher, both of us encouraged the students to create their team names in the Arabic language with the hopes that this will excite students and make them proud of their accomplishments in both Arabic and Qur'an. It’s also important that students refer to their groups as “teams” and not levels. This increases the spirit of cooperation and learning within and between the two teams. The team names are as follows:
* Fareeq An-Namir Al-Aswad which translates to The Black Tiger Team.
* Fareeq Al-Nojoom which translates to The Stars Team.” and Alhmdullah, I am working with the students in a various capacity both with individual, and groups. And Alhmdullah, their level with Quran recitation, reading and memorizing is improving over the time.

Racing to please Allah
To motivate the teams to memorize and to increase their love of the Qur’an, we have started a Qur'an Race in the class. Each student has a car with their name on it. Every time they memorize an Ayah with proper Tajweed, they move their car up on step. The below pictures show the student’s progress so far. This “Race” has had a huge positive effect on students. The reward for finishing the race and getting to the finish line is the ability to move onto a different surah in the Quran. This has motivated students and increased friendly competition within the teams.

Class work
I was proud of few students from Fareeq An-Namir Al-Aswad for being able to communicate accurately the meaning of the first 5 verses of Surat Al-Boroog . I encourage all students to study their notes at home so that they are well versed in the Tafseer of this amazing Surah.
