A Note from an Essentials Team:
In music class, students have been enjoying playing instruments while practicing rhythms, playing listening games like solami, and movin’ and groovin’ with the classic Honduran melody, Sopa de Caracol. This song is performed in Garifuna, of the local Afro-Indigenous community, as well as Spanish. Students have also practiced Hagamos Tortillas, explored music by Celia Cruz, and created 8 measure compositions using rhythmic building blocks.

Use the Crosswalk with CAUTION
Our crosswalk still has a few items needed to pass inspection. The contractor sent the following message to us to share with you, “
“For the time-being, I would use the crosswalk WITH CAUTION at least until I can officially inform you it passed the electrical inspection (in the next week or so.) PLEASE KEEP IN MIND that motorists are NOT obeying the flashing lights as much as they should.
Do NOT under any circumstance EXPECT all drivers to stop (yet) so when crossing be sure you have the drivers’ attention AND the drivers stop before proceeding through the crosswalk. The island in the middle of the road is a place of safe refuge, for several persons at a time, should you get part-way across the road, need to stop for a while (until the cars stop again) and need to tap the signal in the middle (to continue to flash the warning lights), before crossing.
It is safer to use this crosswalk in development than any other location across Avon Street.”
Reminder: It’s Hispanic Heritage Month -- Save the Dates!

Please help us keep our school community healthy by screening at home before school daily using the COVID-19 Screening Tools.
Screening at-home before school and keeping your child home if he/she is sick
Talking at home about why we wear masks inside the school or buses
We will maximize physical distancing to the extent possible
We will all wash/sanitize hands throughout the day
Students will all eat in their classrooms or outside - eating as far apart as space will allow
We will take students outside as often as possible
Reminder: Snack Donations Always Needed Accepted
We will happily accept pre-packaged snack donations for children who are unable to provide their own. Not all classes have received donations so we need a general supply -- leave them in the front office for us to distribute upon request. Thank you!
