My Belief:
The aim of the physical education program at Sunset Elementary School is to develop and improve students’ personal fitness and motor skills by providing developmentally appropriate activities through purposeful, creative and enjoyable instruction. By incorporating challenging yet achievable tasks, the students will attain positive attitudes about physical activity and movement.

What We've Been Working On
Dancing!
The overall unit goal: Students will be able to perform basic dance steps both individually and in groups. Students will also be asked to create a basic dance routine each day to demonstrate skills gained. The students were evaluated by the teacher during the activity drills and games.
Swimming!
The overall unit goal: Students will be able to perform basic swimming strokes as well as basic water skills. The students are evaluated by the teacher during the activity drills and games as well as reports given by bus drivers and locker room attendants.
Science!
The overall unit goal: Students will gain a basic understanding of the relevance of hydration as well as the effects of dehydration on each system in the body.
Cardiovascular Experiement

Two heart chambers represented by the two cups. Inside the cup on the left is water and food coloring. This represents blood that is well hydrated. Inside the cup on the right is ketchup. This represents dehydrated blood. In the center is a heart model made from a peeled apple.
Pictured below:
After two weeks, we cut open our model heart to see what effects the dehydration had on the inside. We found that instead of evaporating, the water pulled itself to the center of the "heart"
