"Knightly News"- August
Our Mission
At Nicolas Valley- We educate, engage, and enrich every child, every day in a safe and supportive environment.
Our Goal- To empower and equip students to be productive and responsible citizens, through the use of technology, a culture for learning, and healthy connections within the school and community.
A Note from the Principal
It is already August and we are getting ready to head back to school. I am sure for most of you, it feels like it was June 8, you blinked and here we are starting the 21/22 school year. Summer vacation just never seems long enough. I hope that you were all able to get some much needed rest and fun! I can't wait to hear all of the summer stories from our students very soon.
The Nicolas Valley staff has been working hard to prepare for this new school year. We can't wait to see everyone back on campus, in their classrooms, all day- everyday. It will also be nice to be able to be outside for recesses, lunches, and PE once again. Socialization is so important to all of us, and I am excited that our kids will be able to do so much more of that this year.
Don't forget to update your Infinite Campus Parent Portal, especially with a working email and phone number, so that you are able to receive all of our school and district's important updates. You will be able to check your child's portal on Monday, August 9 after 5pm in order to see who his/her teacher is this year. And we will everyone back here on Wednesday, August 11. Gates open at 8:40 and school begins promptly at 8:55. See you very soon!
As always our goal is to maintain the health and safety of our students. We are still under mandate for all staff and students to wear masks while in buildings on any K-12 campus. We appreciate your support in advance! For those students unable to bring a mask, we will provide them with one upon entering the classrooms.
Parents will be allowed to walk their children to the classroom door on the first day of school this year. Beginning on Thursday, August 12, the campus will be closed to all visitors and volunteers until otherwise notified.
Sincerely,
Ms. Harman and Mrs. O'Brien
Important Dates to Remember
August 9th ~ Classroom/Teacher Assignment – After 5:00pm
Class Teacher assignments will be posted on the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Click here for Parent Portal link. If you need help with your user name or password, please contact me at the email/phone below. Returning NVES students need to complete the Required Family Update.
August 11th ~ First Day of School
Unfortunately, due to recent mandates, visitors/volunteers are not allowed on campus at this time. Parents will be allowed to walk students to their classroom door on the first day of school, Wednesday, August 11th. Beginning Thursday, August 12th, parents will drop off students at the appropriate grade level/program entrance gate.
The first day of school will be a modified day. All students TK-5th attend class at the same time, 8:55am-1pm. During the school year, almost every Wednesday is a modified day.
Back to School Night
In lieu of the typical Back to School Night in person event, teachers will be sending home either a Zoom Link for a virtual meeting or a pre-recorded presentation. More information will be coming. Feel free to email your child’s teacher with any questions you may have.
Modified Days
All students, TK through 5th grade, will attend school from 8:55 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on the following dates: 8/11/2021, 8/18/2021, and 8/25/2021.
