Halloween Parade Procedures
October 2018
Dear Parents / Guardians,
On Wednesday, October 31st, Lyncrest School will have a Halloween parade. Students are permitted to come to school in costume. Parents may also pick their children up at lunchtime to change into their costumes for the afternoon session. Please complete the link below if this is your plan.

Students’ costumes should be comfortable, and not be a safety hazard. No masks or weapons are permitted. Make-up should be applied at home. Please keep in mind that instruction will occur most of the day. At 2:30 p.m. all children will report to our Multi-Purpose Room and exit the door onto the Morlot Avenue playground. They will march around the playground, and then return to their classrooms for dismissal.
Parents are invited to this parade, weather permitting. All parents are to stand on one side of the playground, closest to the street, behind the orange cones. The children will parade around a few times, and then reenter the building through the gym door. Please do not stand against the building. Security remains an issue when the children are outside in an open area. Your cooperation ensures that we keep the children safe and closely supervised.
Class parents will provide treats during the parties beginning at 1:30pm. No goody bags should be brought to school since we must limit sweets.
If the weather doesn't cooperate, we will move the parade into the gym; unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate parents if we are inside.
Thank you for your cooperation. Hope to see you on a sunny October 31st.
Sincerely,
Kelly Diee
Principal
Morning Drop Off Procedures
Please be reminded that teachers are on duty beginning at 8:25 am each morning. There are two teachers on Lori Lane and two teachers on Morlot to supervise the children.
For the safety of the children, we are asking that students line up in their homeroom lines as soon as they are dropped off between 8:25-8:35 am. Students are encouraged to utilize this time to talk with their peers, but not permitted to run and play games. This will help keep all our students, parents, and staff safe during the busy drop off time.
Also, the second bell rings at 8:40am. Students dropped off after this bell are considered tardy. When students arrive late, they miss out on essential instructions given at the beginning of the lesson. This can significantly reduce achievement, regardless of academic ability. Your child may also feel awkward arriving to the classroom when everyone else is settled. Furthermore, when one student arrives late, it disrupts the entire class and the teacher – everyone’s education is compromised. We appreciate your cooperation as we work to begin our day on time!

World Cerealies
Lyncrest and Westmoreland Schools are proud and excited to compete for the friendly “Silver Slugger Award”, which will be awarded to the school that collects the most cereal boxes by the end of this year’s World Series. We are calling this exciting event The World ‘Cereal’ies!
In conjunction with the World Series, we will be collecting boxes of hot and cold cereal to donate to Fair Lawn’s Food Pantry. Lyncrest School will continue to gain strength from character by educating our students with valuable life skills and developing an appreciation for our community through character education.
Our cereal collection will begin on: October 15, 2018 and we will continue to collect donated hot and cold cereal until November 7, 2018. Please carefully check the date on the cereal, as expired boxes will not be accepted by the Fair Lawn Food Pantry.

Peachjar ~ Electronic Flyers
Beginning October 1st, Fair Lawn School District will launch a new electronic flyer communication tool called “Peachjar.” To view school-approved Digital flyers, simply click the Peachjar button on Lyncrest's website homepage.
This “green” initiative will save our schools tons of paper and reduce copy costs by thousands of dollars. On top of that, posting school flyers in this electronic backpack removes a significant administrative burden from teachers, office staff, and volunteers.
No action is required on your part. You will receive a welcome email from our service provider (Peachjar) that includes a username and password. This is provided to give you the opportunity to manage your account and flyer delivery preferences. You do not need to login to receive or view school digital flyers.
To ensure smooth delivery of this communication, we suggest you add school@peachjar.com to your email contacts. When you receive your first eflyer, be sure to click “always display images.”
This system is used exclusively for distribution of school-approved flyers. Your email address will not be shared or used for any other purpose. Thank you for supporting our efforts to ensure parents are well informed about school programs, activities, and events.
