MAP Testing
Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) testing will start soon. This state standardized test will be given to students in third, fourth, and fifth grades. All testing will be in the morning on the dates listed below:
Grade 3 students: April 27 and 28, May 4 and 5
Grade 4 students: April 27 and 28, May 2, 4, 5
Grade 5 students: April 27 and 28, May 2, 3, 4, 5
During test sessions, the only electronic devices allowed in the room are the ones being used for testing. Also, students that arrive late to school will have to wait in the office until the testing session has concluded. There are several things that you can do to help prepare your child:
• Make sure your child has a good night’s rest before testing dates.
• Make sure your child has a nutritious breakfast.
• Arrive to school on time.
• Leave all watches, Fitbits, and other electronic devices at home.
• Avoid appointments on testing days.
Unit News
Unit A
Unit A had a blast on our walking field trip to Jefferson Middle School to kick off our animal unit of study. We explored snakes, reptiles, birds, and a variety of other mammals. This week our classrooms welcomed caterpillars and we will investigate them as they turn into butterflies. Next week we will continue our learning of animals by focusing on a culminating project to share at IGE night. Thank you for all of the donations for Fun Day! We cannot wait to see you tomorrow!
Unit B
We are so excited to begin our Australian animal research. If you have books from home or the public library, or if you have found printouts with animal facts, you are welcome to send those in to be used at school. We can’t wait to share our finished projects in a few weeks!
Unit B sends a huge thank you to all of the Ridgeway Families who planned, and volunteered to make Ridgeway Fun Day a success!

Happy School Library Month!
Libraries have always held a dear place in my heart. I have vivid memories of my mom and I spending our Friday evenings at the local library. We would often come home with more books than we had planned, and many weeks they had to chase us out at closing time. I was that student who would beg my teachers to let me stay in from recess to read and many days after work, you can still find me browsing the shelves at DBRL even though I am surrounded by books all day. Libraries have made a huge impact on my life and it fills my heart to now be working at a school library and passing on a love of reading to the next generation! My hope for you this “School Library Month” and always, is that you and your family are sharing memories surrounded by books and libraries.
Thanks for reading to your children and talking to them about books and libraries. You are making our world a better place!

Medications
Elementary-age students are not allowed to carry any medications with them at school, this includes cough drops and any over-the-counter meds. If your child needs to have medications at school, a parent must check each medication in and complete paperwork with the health room staff.
Asthma Information
It’s the time of year that symptoms seem to be on the rise and inhaler usage is increased. If you have a student that needs an inhaler at school (that doesn’t already have one here) please make sure to reach out to me, so we can be sure to have it here when it is needed. If you are concerned that your child may have asthma, please schedule an appointment with your pediatrician.
