This week in Third Grade...November 16, 2015

Dear Third Grade Parents,

This week is our last full week before the Thanksgiving Holiday break. As a reminder the Night Sky Journal project is due before Thanksgiving on Monday, November 23rd. We look forward to seeing all the wonderful student work in these journals!

We have kicked off our paper recycling project, Green Team, and collected vast amounts of paper from all over our campus. Our students will be busy weighing, analyzing, and graphing data about our school's paper usage as part of our grade level service learning project, Caring For God's Creation. This year-long project will involve all of our students and take into account their ideas for reducing and reusing the recycled paper they've collected.

Again, if you have any questions we can assist you with please do not hesitate to contact your Third Grade Team!

Happy Monday!

Service Learning Project Kicks Off With Third Grade Green Team!

On Friday afternoon, students were busy collecting classroom, administration and office paper recycling boxes all over campus. Each homeroom was a whirl of activity separating paper into various types: glossy, newsprint, cardboard, white, color, card stock, and office paper (including envelopes!). They filled large trash bags full all the while bonding in an espirit de corps unique to our Green Team. Go Third Grade!

At-Home Keyboarding Practice With TYPING CLUB Has Launched!

The new keyboarding program in technology class, Typing Club, was launched last week. The program is fully web-based, so students can use it to practice keyboarding in class, at home, or anywhere an internet connection can be found. Our lower school technology teacher, Mr. Vasquez, highly encourages 15-20 daily practice minutes at home! The most important thing for your child to focus on while practicing is to avoid looking at the keyboard while typing and proper posture.

To log in to your child's Typing Club account, go to the following login URL: This link will also be uploaded to the on-line Third Grade Resource page. Note: Your child's personal log-in information was sent home last week.

Please contact Mr. Vasquez directly at if you should have any questions and/or concerns about Typing Club. Thank you!
