Global Play Day Celebrated at Lowell
Boys & Girls Club is CLOSED Wednesday, March 6th, 2024
Message from Mrs. Phelan
Dear Families,
Valentine's Day is approaching on Wednesday, February 14th. It's a special day in America to celebrate love and friendship. While it's known as a romantic holiday, it's also a time to honor all loved ones, including friends and family.
On this day, many people choose to wear red or pink as a symbol of love. In schools, children often exchange small Valentine cards with their friends and classmates. These cards can be homemade or store-bought, depending on your preference.
Here at Lowell, some classes, especially those in younger grades, may have activities planned to celebrate each other. It's a fun way for children to express their appreciation for their friends and classmates.
While families are not expected to send anything special to school, if you decide to send cards, please send them for the whole class. This ensures that every child feels included and loved on this special day.
If you're looking for Valentine cards, there are many free printable options available online. This can be a convenient and cost-effective way to find cards that your child will enjoy sharing with their classmates.
We hope you and your child have a wonderful Valentine's Day celebration filled with love and friendship.
As a reminder, I wanted to inform you that on Tuesday, February 13th, Lowell School will be conducting emergency training for both staff and students. The purpose of this training is to familiarize students with different alarms and appropriate responses, as part of our comprehensive approach to school safety.
I want to assure you that these drills will not involve any live acting or simulated emergencies. Instead, students will simply listen to the alarm and follow the established procedures. To ensure everyone is able to hear what each announcement sounds like, we will be announcing over the loudspeaker. The alarm will be briefly set and then turned off.
After the drill, each class will have a discussion led by the teacher on what to do in each situation. This will help reinforce the importance of knowing the appropriate response for different alarms.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this matter. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
Please find more information below.
With gratitude,
Stacy

We are currently in the process of organizing season 3 (Spring 2024) of the Watertown Parents Softball
League. Seasons 1 and 2 were super fun, and we are expecting season 3 to be even better! For those
who haven’t played before, the Watertown Parents Softball League is a recreational softball league for
parents of kids in the Watertown schools. It is very relaxed and social and open to players of all skill
levels. If we get enough players signed up, teams will be school-based to give parents a fun opportunity
to socialize and build community with other parents at their kid’s school.
