Big picture

Books are in Bloom!

Thank you for ALL of your support during our first book fair in a number of years at Gordon Parks Academy! We went above and beyond our goal. Because of you, it was a huge success. We raised enough funds to purchase more books and other supplies for the school library. This will help the students and teachers get the tools they need and want for future lessons and also for their reading enhancement and pleasure. Studies show that when school libraries have the resources they need, the students who attend them become stronger readers over time. One of our most important goals at Gordon Parks Academy is to build lifelong readers, and with your help, we can make that happen.

Get Caught Reading 🔎📖🔍

May is, "Get Caught Reading Month." We celebrate Children's Book Week from May 2 to May 8, 2022. What will you get caught reading this month? Will it be fiction or nonfiction? There are many fictional books and genres to choose from. You can read realistic, fantasy, historic, scientific, humorous, and so much more. If you want to get more serious, try out a nonfiction book with facts to load up on. Get information about science, animals, countries, careers, and biographies where you can learn about the lives of famous people. There are also some fun and interesting places to read like your sofa, your bed, a swing, in the park, or even on your porch. Just think of the wonderful tools you can read with. Try a laptop, a tablet, a smartphone, or a good old fashioned printed book. Whatever your choice may be, just make sure to get caught reading!
