Happy Easter!
A helpful discussion for you and your family on Sunday's Scripture Readings
We often think of chicks and eggs at Easter. Eggs and chicks can make us think about new life because chicks come from eggs. Easter is all about new life because Jesus was raised from the dead on Easter to bring us new life.
When Jesus died on the cross, everyone who loved him was sad because they didn't know about this new life yet. They thought that Jesus would never be with them again. They took his body down from the cross and buried it in a tomb.
Then on Easter Sunday something very surprising happened. Do you know what happened? (Allow time for responses.) Let's read what the Gospel tells us happened. Read the Gospel,John 20:1-9 to the children.
On Easter morning the disciples found Jesus' tomb empty. Jesus had been raised from the dead. We know that only God can give new life and that God promises to do that for us. He tells us that after we die, if we have loved him here on Earth, we will have a new life with him in heaven. It will be different from our life on Earth, where we can get sick, be sad, and be disappointed. It will be a life of happiness because we will be with Jesus forever. Only God is powerful enough to give new life
Let's give thanks for this promise of life with God after we die. Pray or sing today's psalm, Psalm 118.

We've Adopted! Our Chalice Child has "arrived".
Quanderly is a 4 year old boy who lives in Grand-Bassin, Haiti. He lives with his parents, 1 brother and 4 sisters in a 2 room house with clay walls, a dirt floor and a metal sheet roof.
Quanderly attends preschool at Centre Fleur De Marie School. He says that is best subject is reading. He also loves looking at storybooks and playing basketball.
At home he is responsible for washing dishes and wants to be a Doctor when he grows up.
Being a sponsor for him means that he can go to school every day and it helps provide for his school supplies, tuition and improved nutrition.
Thank you again Madonna School for your generosity!

EiCS Uses Bill 1 to Further Reduce the Financial Burden on Parents
Elk Island Catholic Schools (EICS) is receiving $474,000 during the 2017-2018 school year as part of the Government of Alberta’s mandate to reduce fees charged to parents as was announced in Budget 2017. As EICS has never charged fees for eligible transportation and all fees for Basic Education were eliminated in the 2016-17 school year, this new funding will provide EICS the ability to further ease the financial burden for our families.
