WLMS News & Updates

WLMS Yearbook Update

The WLMS Yearbook online store will no longer be accepting online orders. At this time, our yearbooks have SOLD OUT. If you did not get a chance to purchase a book, there will be a small amount of extra books available once the yearbooks are delivered and you will be able to purchase one then.

We are awaiting word of when the yearbooks will be sent out, so as soon as Mrs. Frugé has heard from the publisher, we will send out information regarding yearbook distribution.

If you have any questions, please contact our yearbook advisor, Mrs. Frugé (linda.fruge@humbleisd.net).

4th 9 Weeks Grading Update

The Progress Report for grades recorded 3/30/2020 - 4/17/2020 is now available in Home Access Center (HAC) for your student.

As a reminder, grades in the 4th nine-weeks will not negatively impact student semester averages/GPA. The 2020 spring semester average will be determined by the 3rd nine-week grade and the higher of the 3rd or 4th nine-week grade.

If you have any questions, please reach out to your child's counselor or teacher.

Cheer Tryouts

Dear Cheer Candidates and families!

I know that many of you have questions about the timing and logistics of tryouts since we know we won't be returning to school this year. We are currently working with the district to determine when and how to conduct tryouts. We will send a school wide email and update our website when we have a plan and instructions from the district. Until then you can follow us on Twitter @WLMS_Cheer or keep up to date by checking in on our WLMS Cheer Website.

Please stay safe and we will see you all again soon!

Sincerely,

The Coaches

Dance and Luminaire Information

Greetings West Lake Middle School 7th and 8th graders and parents,

I am so honored to be announced as the new WLMS dance instructor and director for the upcoming 2020-2021 school year. If you have a love of dance and are interested in being a part of our Luminaires competitive dance team, please take a look at the information provided on the West Lake Dance website. The link is provided below.

Luminaires Dance Page

Today, I have updated the website to include information about our 2020-2021 Virtual Tryouts for those who are interested in trying out for our West Lake Dance Team "Luminaires". My goal is to get this upcoming year off to a fresh start and utilize my knowledge of the dancing world to make this year fun while teaching students the importance of teamwork and responsibility.

I look forward to answering any questions you have about the program at clarissa.butsch@humbleisd.net.

2020 - 2021 School Supplies

Dear West Lake MS parents,

We use a company called EduKit to offer you a way to order school supplies for next year on-line and have them delivered to the school before the first day of class. The teachers in their math class on the first day will pass the kits out and help the students unpack and label them.

Here is the link for ordering: Edukit

The deadline for ordering to have the kit delivered to the school is June 15.

Thank you and I hope everyone is safe and healthy,

Tanya Close; 6th grade Assistant Principal

Around the World Projects

Ms. Clark's 6th grade World Cultures students have been working on "Around the World" projects all month. Students study a culture from around the world and create something from that culture: food, architecture, arts, and sports. Her students have had a great time creating and investigating the world around them.

Students Create Their Own Apps

Mrs. Tompkins programming students have been creating their own apps that they can actually use on their phones! Mrs. Tompkins says that the best part of distance learning is that there has been more freedom to experiment, and her student to not be bound by their classroom software.
