Bonny Slope Elementary School
The two school leaders say they have been focusing on inclusivity and parent involvement, and have seen those efforts pay off. Ninety percent of students report that at least one adult cares about them. Maza explained the high number comes from an effort to develop strong relationships and to recognize and celebrate the successes that happen every day, especially for at-risk students.
As are other schools across the District, Bonny Slope is facing the challenge of students who lack the social and emotional skills needed to be successful in an educational environment. In response, the school has implemented Culture of Care practices school-wide.
