Attention 5th Grade Families:
Middle School Choice Survey
Earlier this week all CMS 5th Grade families received an email with information and a link to the Norwalk's Middle School Choice Survey. This survey is asking whether your child plans on attending their feeder middle school next year. CMS students receive priority to remain at CMS but MUST complete the survey to be granted priority. CMS students also have the option to select their home district middle school as their feeder school. If you select CMS or your district feeder school and submit, you are done. There is no need to complete a lottery application.
If, when completing the survey, you indicate that you would like to choose another middle school option, you will then need to complete a lottery application to go into the Middle School Choice Lottery.
Please use the link below to access the Middle School Choice Survey.
A Message for 5th Grade Families:
Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns you have in regard to the initial MS choice form. If you are choosing your feeder school and have no questions, just make sure you submit the form and you are good to go.
If you choose a non-feeder middle school on the initial form you have received and submit, I will reach out to you over the next couple weeks to set up a phone or in-person meeting to help you with the final step of filling out the MS choice application.
Since I am split between 2 schools, the best way to reach me quickly and easily is by email: frankuml@norwalkps.org.

A Special Visitor from Djibouti, Africa!
On Monday, November 7, CMS second graders were treated to a special remote visit from Sergeant Major McFate of the U.S. Army. Sergeant Major McFate is the father of Sofia McFate in Mrs. Blanco's class. Katie McFate, Sofia's mom, read a book to the children about the military and shared a few of their special mementos. The students then viewed a recorded message by Sergeant Major McFate from Djibouti, Africa. He told the students about his work in Africa. Over the past 8 months, the army has been building relationships and friendships with the people of Africa. In addition, they have vaccinated herds of animals, built libraries, trained local militaries and helped to improve the lives of people there. Sofia then shared a special map of Africa her family created. As a countdown to when dad comes home, Sofia and her brother Noah color in one African country each week. Djibouti will be final country to color in. They will leave it for their dad to color when he gets home!
