Happy Dr. Seuss Day!
Students had a wonderful time celebrating the children's author, Dr. Seuss, today! They rotated to each 2nd grade teacher for a read aloud and educational activity. They observed physical and chemical changes while making their own butter in our classroom, did a tongue twister activity & craft with Ms. Minor's "Fox In Sox" story, and were able to imagine and write what it would be like to run their own circus with Ms. Bentley's fun shaving cream puffy painting experience! Overall, it was an awesome day to be an FSA student.
A giant THANK YOU to our amazing 2nd grade parents for donating all of the materials we needed to make this day happen. We are very appreciative!
Make sure you ask your students about their favorite part of the day when they get home and check out homeroom for pictures of our exciting day :)
Planet Research Project
Students should be working on their Planet Research project at home. These are due on March 28th. Each student has been assigned a planet. They should create a 3D model of their planet and prepare a presentation. They have many presentation options to choose from!
I have LOVED hearing how excited our students are about this project, and I cannot wait to see our scientists present their research on the 28th of March!

Help Us Stay Healthy!
It is that time of year again...
Help our class stay healthy by please keeping your child home to rest up and get healthy if they are sick! Please remember we have a 24 hour fever free school policy. Make sure your child has been without a fever (without medication) for 24 hours before they return to school. We will continue to wash our hands and clean our classroom to stay healthy!
Chess Team Information
Hi Chess Players,
It is that time of the year when we need all tournament chess players to come out and play for Fulton Science Academy at the State Chess Team Qualifiers! The top teams from the Qualifier events will move on to the championship, which is on March 25, 2018 (more details).
This year, the Qualifier level has been split into two events to reduce the size of the tournament (last year was one huge tournament). The Qualifier tournaments are unrated and do not require USCF membership.
March 3, 2018
Students in K-3 section and 6-8 section should play this Qualifier.
March 10, 2018
Students in K-1 section and K-5 section should play this Qualifier.
In general, students should have played at least one tournament prior to these Qualifiers. Students have more fun if they are not worried about things like how to use the chess clock, etc. The exception to this is the K-1 level. As long as kids know how to play chess and are solid with all the rules, it would be ok for a child new to tournaments to play in the K-1 section.
Please register your child by clicking the links provided above. You will be given a choice to register as an Individual or a Team. Please register as an Individual (you will be put on the team list with your other teammates by GCA after you register).
If anyone has any questions about the Section their child belongs in or any other questions, please email Karen@atlchessclub.com

Home Visit Program
Home visits are a casual way for your child to spend time with his/her teacher in the comfort of their home. Teachers enjoy having a chance to see children in this comfortable environment, doing whatever makes them most happy and spend time with children and their parents outside of a regular school day.
Simply email junal@fultonscienceacademy.org with some suggested dates/times, as well as your students' name(s) and homeroom assignments. Ms. Unal will be in touch to confirm final details.
Please note: the best times to schedule a home visit are weekdays after 5:00pm.
