"For the Love of Learning!"
I Make a Difference
I would like to pass the I Make a Difference award on to Ashley Francisco. Ashley's positive nature has brightened up the halls of Trantwood. It is hard starting a new job in a new building, let alone two, but Ashley jumped right in. You would think she had been doing it for years. Her incredible wealth of mathematical knowledge has been a great asset to Trantwood. From the manipulatives you can use for testing to data driven strategies for instruction, we have learned a great deal from her and our students have reaped the rewards. Ashley has become such an integral part of our school. I don't know how we ever managed without her. Brooke

~ Kudos to Vivi Kappas for always being there for me and the kiddos in room 39. You have stayed by my side through thick and thin and always kept us laughing. I want you to know that I could not have survived this year without you. Love you! Berkley
~ Kudos to Amanda for stepping in to the registrar position so quickly, while continuing to multi-task between positions. You are doing an amazing job and I'm glad that you decided to make the transition. Michele
~ Kudos to Barb for taking good care of our kiddos. The clinic is a very busy place and she does a great job taking care of all of us at Trantwood. Thank you Barb! Michele
~ Thank you Vivi Kappas for making this year so amazing!! Each day when you enter my room I instantly become more relaxed and comfortable because I know just how amazing you are with the students. I know that with you they are continuously being pushed to work to their full potential during independent centers. I truly couldn’t have done it this year without you (and your sense of humor). Melinda
~ Kudos to Amanda for being absolutely amazing. She has seamlessly taken on new responsibilities while continuing to smile & remain calm. LOVE her! Stephanie
~ Kudos to Sule for taking over for me during DRA testing & being such a trooper. What would I do without you? Stephanie~ Kudos to Aaron for all of his help these past several weeks with our special friend. You didn't have to care, but you did, and that means a lot to both of us. Stephanie
~ Testing is going so well and that only happens because everyone, every single person on #TeamTrantwood is doing their part to ensure a great testing environment. Thank you for inspiring greatness in our kids. You are amazing! LAM

2018-2019 ESSENTIAL SESSIONS-TRANSFORMING MATHEMATICS THROUGH COMPUTATIONAL FLUENCY
Computational fluency refers to having flexible, efficient and accurate methods for computing. Students exhibit computational fluency when they demonstrate strategic thinking and flexibility in the computational methods they choose, understand and can explain and produce accurate answers efficiently. Math specialists will receive license renewal points by monitoring progress for teachers within their respective buildings.
The essential PLP session will not have a make-up date because it will be a course in Schoology where teachers will be responsible for submitting all necessary coursework in order to receive license renewal points. The final submission date is April 5, 2019.
Questions may be directed to Johanna Ortiz, elementary mathematics coordinator, in the Department of Teaching and Learning, by phone at 263-1465 or email at johanna.ortiz@vbschools.com. Thank you

The WISE time sheets will provide documentation to support the hours reported in WISE. Please record your hours on this sheet daily.
The flex day applies only to the following group of employees: All teachers whose schedule ends June 18 o Teacher assistants, ISS coordinators, and library media assistants.
Other:
• Security assistants are not eligible because of security needs of the building.
• Eligible employees who do not choose to make use of the flex day and do not wish to report June 18 may choose to take personal reasons leave with approval of the building principal.
Maintaining High Quality Instruction until June 15, 2018
In the past, parent calls have expressed concern that students “watch videos” or “just play” the days after testing is completed. These final school days should be productive learning days for students. Again, do not hesitate to contact the departments of Teaching and Learning or School Leadership should you need any recommendations for teachers and/or students. Best wishes for a good and productive school closing.
