Dear SFCS Parents & Friends,

Happy Sunday!

It was a beautiful evening last night until the rain arrived last night for the FSA's annual fundraiser/ gala. Thank you to Megan Drescher and Julie Pavlick for leading the committee and organizing the event! Also thank you to Mrs. McVey and Mrs. Markey for assisting. Thank you to all the parents, faculty and community members that assisted in many ways and donating items or purchasing sponsorships. Lastly, thank you to the Salty Dog Café for the delicious food and much more! Pictures from the event are below.

Thank you to all the families that attended the School Family Mass this morning and for all the students that dressed in uniform. Send Mrs. Markey a picture of the students at mass in uniform or next to the Hearts Will Rise Yard Sign in uniform for a NUT Card!

Pre-K

Kindergarten

Kindergarten had a lucky week celebrating St. Patrick’s Day! We learned that St. Patrick is the patron saint of engineers! We prayed for his intercession as we designed our leprechaun trap and tackled a STEM project. Our STEM project challenged both our math and engineering brains. First the students had to solve addition problems to earn their materials. Then they came up with a plan using their given materials to build a rainbow. We learned to not give up and “try try again” to complete the challenge!

1st Grade

The first graders had a fun week celebrating St. Patrick’s Day and being engineers. They created amazing leprechaun traps. Unfortunately, the Leprechauns were too clever to get caught in the traps. The first graders also enjoyed listening to stories from this week‘s guest reader.

2nd Grade

You know what they say: "EVERYONE is Irish on St. Patrick's Day!

Coach's Corner

Strong start to the soccer season! Both SFCS teams traveled to Cross for their season-openers and battled hard against a traditionally tough opponent. The Lady Wolves came out on fire and dominated, winning 5-0. The team has a great mix of young talent and veteran leadership and will be tough to beat. The Boys’ showed tremendous improvement and are much more athletic than a year ago. After a scoreless first half, the game got away from them late as Coach Perrine cleared the bench. As Coach said afterwards, it’s “payback time” when the two schools meet again this week! Love the confidence and enthusiasm!!

Save the Date…The annual SFCS Sports Celebration Night will be on Tuesday, May 17th from 6-8pm in the gym. It’s a special evening to celebrate all our school teams, student-athletes and coaches including a slideshow picture montage and coaches’ award presentations. Everyone is welcome to come join the fun!!

Thank you to this year’s SFCS Athletic Department Sponsors! Without continued assistance from our school families and local community, we would not have the resources to grow the Athletic program. Last year, every school team was directly impacted by the generosity of our sponsors. In addition, we were able to add an Equestrian Team, as well as bring back the Cheer and Girls’ Cross Country Teams after a brief hiatus. Finally, we were able to use some of our funds to execute the first stage of the school’s new “Ninja Warrior” area, which benefits all SFCS students. Exciting new things are “in the works” for next year and we hope that you’ll consider joining the Booster Club. More details will be coming soon!

Paddle Call Extension - Teacher Wish List

For the Gala this year, the paddle call was for Teacher Wish Lists. Each teacher was asked if there was anything that they'd like for their classroom. The responses included new rugs, seating, globes, a greenhouse, and so much more.

We know not everyone was able to attend the Gala, so we wanted to reopen the paddle call until Friday, March 25, in case other people wanted to make a pledge.

Pledge checks can be dropped off into the office or call the office to pay over the phone.

Thank you for your support. We are so thankful for our teachers, so I hope we are able to help fill some of the items on their lists!

Contact Julie.Pavlick@gmail.com with any questions.

Gala Donation Class Contest Update

- Well Done St. Francis! We reached 91% participation for Gala donations. This 91% was reached thanks to quite a few students bringing in multiple donations, which helped to make up the difference. We will schedule your Movie and Popcorn afternoon very soon.

- There was a 3 way tie for the classroom with the most participation, so congratulations to 3rd Grade, 4th Grade, and 5th Grade for winning a classroom pizza party. The FSA will reach out to your teachers and coordinate your party.

HH St. Patrick's Day Parade

Thank you to the FSA for another great turn out at last Sunday's St. Patrick's Day parade! St. Francis was well represented by many of our wonderful students, parents and faculty!

SURVEY

We still have time…the deadline for responses for the Synod on Synodality (or journeying together) has been extended to April 1, 2022. The Synod is about discerning together where God’s Spirit is leading us and listening deeply to each other so that we can discover how God’s people can best serve and love each other.
