Cohen Career Center Summer Internship Fund

The Career Center Internship Fund is a source of funding for grants to be awarded to students who have already acquired an unpaid internship for Summer 2015.

The fund awards grants of $4,000 to undergraduate students pursuing unpaid internships, typically provided by employers in the following sectors: non-profit, government, education, and non-governmental organizations. Opportunities at boutique, for-profit, media/communications, or entrepreneurially-oriented organizations may be considered if justification is provided regarding why the internship is unpaid.

Applications for the Grant are due April 15th via Tribe Careers.

"You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life."

"The Beloved Community" Black Lives Matter Conference

April 12th - 19th is "Beloved Community Week." This conference considers the ways in which the College of William and Mary and Williamsburg live out Martin Luther King’s Jr. notion of the “beloved community.” King envisioned that, through non-violent resistance and acts of love, a community of racial reconciliation and equality would be created, stating that "the end is the creation of the beloved community. It is this type of spirit and this type of love that can transform opposers into friends.”

The objective of this conference is to educate the W&M and Williamsburg community about racism, as well as create solutions to combat systemic and institutional racism. The week will feature diverse groups of individuals focusing on inclusivity, who are intentional about disallowing racism and overcoming differences nonviolently and respectfully. The events (listed below) will include speakers, photoshoots, documentary showings, spoken word performances, and much more. All events are free and open to the public.
