What Will We Be Learning This Week?
Math
Students have continued to learn about Decimals this week. Students have compared decimals by making them "look like money." We have talked about adding and subtracting decimals and ordering decimals. Finally, students will be adding fractions with ten and one hundred as denominators. For example: 3/10 + 5/100 = 30/100 + 5/100 = 35/100. This is a new concept, as students are required to convert both fractions to hundredths.
Science
Students are busy observing and recording the properties of minerals in their Mineral Field Guides. This week, students have observed the shape of minerals and their ability or inability to attract to magnets.
Language Arts/Social Studies
We will not have an NC Studies Weekly Assignment this week.
Odds & Ends
Headphones For Reading Class
Please make sure that your children have their headphones each day for school. Almost half of my reading class does not have headphones for the videos that we use in class. Although we have had parents generously donate headphones already this year, we just don't have enough to give to so many students who are missing their headphones on a daily basis. Thank you for your help with this!
Sincerely,
Mr. Ross
