Minges Brook Elementary
September 3, 2021
A message from Principal Fausey-Riley
We had a great first full week getting back into the swing of things. The students are doing a wonderful job learning the Spartan Way and Minges Brook expectations.
September 7-9, the city will be removing a couple of trees on E. Minges road between the hours of 9:00 am - 4:00 pm. You will need to plan to take a different route on those days for dismissal time only.
We are in need of noon hour supervisors still. If you would like to apply, please visit our website. We would also appreciate volunteers if you would only like to do a day or two per week. Please call our office if you would be willing to volunteer, 269-565-4500. The hours are 11:10-1:20.
Please be mindful of not pulling your child(ren) out of school early. Students are learning right up until the end of the day. Every minute missed from school is learning lost.
I hope you have a nice long weekend and enjoy the sun! Thank you for choosing Minges Brook!
Mrs. Giddings Good News to Home:
Welcome to our new school year! We are so happy to have you as part of our school family!
For those of you who are new to Minges Brook, I’m Renee Giddings (our school’s Resilience Coach). In this role I support all teachers, students and families. The teaching, structures and programs put into place help Minges Brook be a safe, loving place to learn and grow.
This year your student(s) will learn all about the Spartan Way. The Spartan Way is embedded in all that we do as we demonstrate being Honest, Caring, Respectful, Responsible and Safe.
We prioritize Social Emotional Learning by focusing on 5 areas throughout the year.
Together, we learn to understand & manage emotions, set & achieve goals, feel & show empathy for others, make and maintain positive relationships and make responsible decisions. Believing that mistakes are learning opportunities, we use a Restorative Processing model following conflict. An opportunity is always provided to make the situation right, or those involved, feel better.
As we navigate the start to this year, please know that we are on this journey as one team! If you haven’t checked out our Lakeview Resilience Team Supports page, please do so. This is a great resource for the experiences we are facing. As always, please reach out with wonderings and for support.
