  • makes a long angk sound that is repeated often

CHARACTERISTICS

  • considered most beautiful of the peacocks
  • they are very shy birds and are rarely seen in the wild
  • however, they adapt well and breed easily in captivity
  • has a long metallic blue crest with white feather lines above and below the eye
  • the bills are black and the feet are brown in male and female birds
  • males have spurs on the back of their legs
  • females are mottled brown and have a brown crest (which isn't as visible as the male's crest)
  • the female's face and throat are whitish
  • the female's tail has faint ocelli on the feathers and is much shorter then the male's
