A Letter From Principal Mills....
Dear Bridgeport Families,
Happy New Year! Here is a note regarding our upcoming health and human sexuality lessons. Please reach out with questions!
Health Curriculum
This week families received both electronic and paper copies of a letter explaining a bit about our health and human sexuality curriculum that we will begin teaching in a few weeks. This curriculum aims to prevent sexual abuse and violence as well as teach about human anatomy, growth and sexuality. There are several lessons for each grade level, kindergarten through fifth grade, and they build on each other over the years. All genders are taught together as a class and, as a result, the students develop a more complete understanding of the material and true empathy for one another.
I would encourage families to take a look at the materials before we start teaching them. You can see them online or in person. Being familiar with the materials may be helpful for you as students ask questions or share what they are learning at school. If after previewing the materials you determine that you would prefer that your student complete an alternate assignment, you can fill out the opt out form to have your students sit out for some or all of the lessons. Again, I strongly encourage all families to take a look at the lessons before we teach them. Please reach out to our office at bridgeportoffice@ttsd.k12.or.us or 503-431-4200 with any questions about previewing the materials.
Wishing you all a safe, restful weekend. As always, please feel free to contact me anytime.
Sincerely,
Jordan Mills
Principal

Atentamente,
Jordan Mills

Tualatin Together is a non-profit organization that has served Tualatin since 1990. Tualatin Together’s primary focus is to prevent youth consumption of drugs and other high risk activities that prevent them from living to their full potential.
