Endeavour Library Newsletter

September 2017

Welcome Back!

Welcome to the 2017-18 school year! Every month you will receive a newsletter informing you on what is happening in the library, any info you may need to know and to share tips and tricks to help make your life as a teacher easier. I hope that you find the information useful and that it will encourage communication and collaboration.

What's Happening in the Library this Month??

All students are working on the basics for the library and checking out lots of books! Normal checkouts are as follows:

Kindergarten = 2 books

1st and 2nd = 3 books

3rd and 4th = 4 books

5th = unlimited!

From here out, grades will start to diverge on their lessons and building on skills learned in previous years. Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd will continue to build on their library and book skills, while 3rd-5th will start moving to award books and other computer/research skills. The library is a great place to collaborate on a research project so please let me know how we can help support your students and your curriculum in the library!

Technology Tips!

Pic Collage

Pic Collage is a free app available for Android and iOS devices. Creating the collages can be a good way for students to organize their thoughts in a visual manner. In creating their collages they are organizing images that may later become writing prompts for them.

Numberock is a free educational YouTube channel that offers quick music videos that teach and reinforce elementary school math lessons. Plenty of free videos or you can subscribe for $5.00 a month to unlock all videos and get lesson plans, games and more!

For those of you using iPads or computers regularly in your classroom, check out Nearpod for cool interactive lessons that allow your students to become a part of the learning process. Check out this video introducing it below!
