The Tiger Times
Week of February 19th through the 23rd
Hello Tiger Family!
This weekend has been a bit of a blur - the best kind of blur! Our Tigers took to the stage and, like our symposium campus visits, left the audience ooooooohing and ahhhhhing over the talent we have here at Timberline. One of the tweets from this weekend:
"Thought I was just going to 'support the kids', and instead found myself thoroughly immersed in the experience! The whole cast and crew did a phenomenal job -- top notch production. #TESLeads" . Timberline is truly the place to be!
This year we've talked a lot about the Big Three -learning targets, relationships, and Tier 1 and we've talked about the crib they live in - Leader in Me. What we haven't talked about is the house all of this is in. We know as educators that the "house" a student lives in - the beliefs, values and vision they live in- can impact their behavior, homework, parent conferences, attitudes, attendance...it impacts everything. The same holds true for us. The Big Three, Leader in Me, PLCs, Win-Win, even newsletters....everything can mean different things to us depending on the beliefs and vision of our house.
Tomorrow we'll begin building our house. That's why it's important that all staff be here - not just teachers; everyone's voice matters in this work. John Doughney will be here to lead us in our build but we will be the ones with the hammers, nails and power tools.
And I can't wait to get that tool belt on with you!
Blessed and blissed to be your principal,
Shelley

- Relationships so that we can significantly impact discipline and learning!

Nuts and Bolts is our "virtual faculty meeting". Please read all information carefully and reach out if you have any questions or need clarification.
From Principal
Our campus, along with all GCISD campuses, are regularly disinfected. In fact, the district’s facilities team has been doing more than the normal disinfecting of schools and other facilities throughout the influenza season. Because facilities does this in the evenings when students and staff aren't present, I wanted to make sure you had accurate information for yourselves and parents. Additionally, our student absences related to flu-like illness are reflective of other GCISD campuses, and schools throughout Tarrant county. If you have questions or if parents have questions about the measures the district has been talking, be sure and ask Nicole, Jade or me!
Beginning now, if you have a flyer that needs to go out for your specific grade, class or club, please give these to me. The district is using a new system, Peachjar, to distribute flyers to families and it requires uploading that I will do for you. The district and campuses will no longer send home paper flyers.
- Flyers are things that communicate information one-way to parents.
- If parents need to fill something out and return it, that doesn't constitute a flyer.
- Newsletters are not considered flyers.
Please include the following in your grade level newsletters:
"Grapevine-Colleyville ISD has adopted an electronic flyer distribution program called Peachjar. This is part of our ongoing effort to focus resources on education while reducing the environmental impact of our activities. You should have received a welcome email from Peachjar that includes a username and password. This is provided to give parents the opportunity to manage their account and flyer delivery preferences. To view a list of Frequently Asked Questions, click here and select the appropriate tab for PARENTS."
From District Communications Department: We’re excited to announce that our new and refreshed district website will launch after Spring Break in March 2018. All campus staff members will need to have their teacher page updated and ready by Monday, March 19, so basic training of editing the website is necessary.
At the last CLT, we proactively shared with team leads that the website would be changing and Kristin Snively sent out an all district email this past Thursday. Rather than requiring all staff to attend a district training, which several campuses are opting for, I'm providing several options that you can choose from that works best works for you. Please note that the district deadline for updated pages is a hard deadline.
- The first option is to attend one of three available webinars. For webinar information, click here.
- The second option is to attend in-person district training. Please review the dates and times here and select the option that best fits your schedule and register in Eduphoria. If you have a laptop, plan to take it to the training.
- The third option is to attend a "make my webpage" with Audra on February 26th at 3:30 in the Learning Commons.
Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns!
Texas Public Schools Week - In order to not add anything additional to our To Dos, and to be responsive to the feedback that we received from multiple teachers about wanting more students to be able to share during the Symposium visits, our "open house" on March 8th from 5:30 - 7:00 will be exactly what students did (or would have done) with the visitors that came to your classrooms: share leadership notebooks, talk about data boards, share goals from Victory Walls, etc. At CLT, we talked a lot about what would showcase the greatness that happens at our school while at the same time being mindful of time. I think this is a great choice for accomplishing both!
From Associate Principal
I sent out an email today that contains very important information regarding TELPAS testing. This pertains to all staff so please make sure you have the opportunity to read it carefully.
From Assistant Principal
We will be re-evaluating morning and dismissal duty over the next couple of weeks to determine where we need more support and where we have a surplus of help. If you already know of a spot that needs more/less, let Shelley or me know!
From Nurse
JPS will be performing dental screenings for Pre-k thru 3rd grade Wed -Fri. Feb 21st- 23rd.
