Family Newsletter

Hello everyone-

I hope your summer is off to a great start! We had a good turnout for our June book give away with the bubble bus at the OLC. The kids had a great time this month at the outdoor camp, cheer & dance clinic, and kindergarten popsicles event! Thanks for helping to keep the kids connected during the summer break.

As you saw in my email, Dr. Posey resigned before beginning the Assistant Principal position. We have over 30 people participating on the interview committees in the next interview process. I will send out a special newsletter when we have a candidate selected and board approved. I am excited to work with the interview committee to find our perfect person for Robinson. Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to help out!

Please see the activities below for the month. We hope to see you!

Please reach out at any time to share any questions, concerns, or ideas. I am here to help and support you and your family. Thanks for all you do to help keep our students and staff safe.

Take Care-

PTO needs your vote

Dear Robinson caregiver community,

A funding request has come to the PTO board, and we need community input to move forward with a budget request of this size. Since we have no meetings over the summer, we are reaching out to you via this virtual vote for your input.

In 2021, our community generously raised money to diversify and update classroom libraries. Now the school would like to be able to rotate these books through the classrooms each quarter. This would keep reading fresh and give our kids access to new books in their classrooms every quarter. In order to facilitate this project, 28 book carts have been requested for a total of $5,880. Our anticipated budget for 2022-23 has plenty of funds to cover this new request.

We appreciate your time and feedback on this request. Please place your vote by 7:00 pm on Tuesday, July 12. Please click here to vote. Thanks!

If you have questions or comments, please email

Welcome our new Social Worker- Dima Shabaneh

Hi Robinson family!

I wanted to take the moment to introduce myself as the new member of the social work team at Robinson. This is my third year in the Kirkwood School District and I am excited to be starting this new role with the Robinson family. In my previous role, I worked as the Intentional Connections Coordinator for Kirkwood At-Home then transitioned to working with our students enrolled in Launch as well as those who had to quarantine from the school building.

To give you some brief information about myself, I graduated from UMSL with my Master of Education in counseling with a K-12 School Counseling certification in May 2020. I have also worked at Mercy Hospital in their Behavioral Health Department in many different roles, including as a nursing assistant and in intake completing risk assessments and providing referrals. Working with students and families is my passion and I am so excited to be back in the school building this coming year!

When I am not working with students and have some free time, I enjoy traveling both nationally and internationally. I love learning about new cultures, trying new foods, and making new friends wherever I go.

I am looking forward to combining my past knowledge and skills as well as the new skills I learn in this position to serve you and your children to the best of my ability. I truly believe that teamwork makes the dream work. As long as we work together to ensure all hands on deck to serve the students and community, then I have no doubt this coming year will be a successful one for all of us.

I look forward to meeting you all soon!

Dima Shabaneh, M.Ed, NCC

Consider purchasing all your School Supplies from Bright SchoolKitz - A one-stop online shopping experience

PTO is working with a school supply company, Bright SchoolKitz, to provide families with an opportunity to purchase all of their school supplies with a click of a button. Once ordered, the supplies will be shipped directly to the student's address within 2-3 weeks. This option would allow families to purchase supplies without having to go into stores or find each item independently. We hope that you will find this service to be convenient and efficient. Please visit the website to view supplies and prices. Select "Order Kits" at the top of the page and then search for Robinson under the "Find Your School" prompt.

Bright SchoolKitz is a mom-run, family-owned, mission-focused company. We offer competitively-priced, high-quality school supply kits, shipped to school or home, that are customized to your teachers' supply lists or bulk supplies ordered for the entire school. To give back to the community, we employ adults with developmental disabilities to hand pack a portion of our kits. You'll be pleased to know that with our service there are no fees or required minimum purchases. Most of us here at Bright SchoolKitz also volunteer at our kids' schools or within our communities, so we know your time is valuable; therefore, we strive to keep our program simple and convenient.

Updated Nurses' Note below

Big picture

Here are a few things to remember for the start of the next school year, and items you can do ahead to prepare.

As your child goes to the doctor this summer, for check ups, and sports physical, please also talk to the doctor about any immunizations that may be needed for school. By school guidelines, all Immunizations need to be completed in order to attend school.

Health Action Plans-

If your child has any medical issues (Asthma, Diabetes, Food Allergies, Seizures) or any medical issues that may require additional support, please get those action plans from your doctor. The Doctor offices are aware of these Action plans and can print them out.

Medications taken at School-

If your child will be taking medication at school, during school hours, they will need a medication permission form filled out. A medication form will also be needed for over the counter medication. All medication needs to be in the original bottle, container, or box, with the student's name on it. (this also includes inhalers, need to be in the original box) Check expirations dates, so no medication is expired. If you can get one that does not expire at the end of the school year, that helps so you do not need to replace it half way through the year.

You may start sending paperwork into school, Via email, or drop off at the school through the summer, with my name on it. If you have any questions, please email me, and let me know.

Thank you, and have a great summer,

Nurse Cyndi

Robinson PTO Board Needs Volunteers for 22-23 School Year

The Robinson PTO is looking for parents and guardians to join the PTO board for the upcoming school year! Worried that you won't have enough time? Or maybe that it's not the right fit? Well, have no fear! We are a fun bunch of parents who too just want to help our school community.

All open board positions are "elect" positions which means you will work alongside the current board member for a year before transitioning into the role. We recognize many of us are stretched thin in life and couldn't imagine carving out any extra time. But this type of community service really is rewarding especially when you see the joy on our students' and teachers' faces.

If we have a strong, diverse team we can strike a balance with time commitment and will be more successful at building a Robinson community that is connected, engaging and enriched!

All are welcome! Please contact us as if you would like to hear more or are interested in joining our Board.
