Updates from our Principal
Greetings Firebird Nation Families -
We have made it to the end of 1st Quarter and, after one more week, Fall Break will be here! Remember, next week we have Parent-Teacher Conferences. They take place on Thursday, October 7th, from 4pm - 7pm and again on Friday, October 8th, from 7:30am - 3:00pm. Each team has a sign up form set up through their team landing page. It is our goal to have a conference with any and every parent that would like to have one. Please check out the Landing Pages here to sign up!
I want to extend a congratulations to Ms. Ashley Lowe! She is one of seven finalists for the 2022 Colorado Teacher of the Year! We have included the press release and some additional information below about this great honor. We are so proud of Ms. Lowe and can't wait to hear the final results soon!
We have been receiving some phone calls from neighbors in the communities to the west and south of Falcon Middle School asking for our help. Please, we need to make sure that we are not blocking any driveways and/or entrances/exits for these neighborhoods. Also, there are places where students have been leaving litter in yards, walking on the property, etc. We ask that all of our Firebirds show respect when walking around our neighborhoods and be respectful of others' properties. Thank you for your help!
You may have seen the district's email yesterday about the concern related to the new TikTok challenges that are out there. Please make sure to talk with your students about demonstrating appropriate behavior at all times. I have been working to remind students during the announcements to keep their hands to themselves and avoid the horseplay at school. We have been seeing increases in this lately that are resulting in school consequences. It is also concerning that the next TikTok trend we’re hearing about involves slapping teachers on the backside. This behavior is also highly unacceptable and will result in school consequences and Deputy Murphy's involvement as our School Resource Officer. Thank you for your help in reminding your students about appropriate behaviors.
I hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend. We only have 4 more school days left before we are on our 2-week Fall Break! I look forward to seeing our families with us during Parent Teacher Conferences this next week. As always, let us know if there is anything we can help with!
Sincerely,
Brian Smith

D49 Election Information
The November election is quickly approaching, very soon you will receive ballots in the mail. There are two items on the ballot that directly relate to District 49 and will impact all of our schools. The purpose of this communication is to encourage you to become aware and informed of both things that will affect schools, students, and staff once the final counts come in.
Below are links to information related to Ballot Measure 4A as well as links to our Board of Education Election. Measure 4A will be asking you to approve a tax increase in order to raise compensation for teachers and support staff. Opportunities to participate in Virtual Town Halls for each are listed as well.
Our hope is you will take the opportunity to learn about the issues in this election.

Firebird Mini Courses
Volunteers needed to help with Mini Course Sign Ups!
We are in need of multiple volunteers to help with our arena scheduling process in the Main Gym. The process runs very smoothly, but having as many parent and community volunteers as possible is extremely helpful! Please use the link to sign up below. We will welcome any time you may be able to give to support this process.
Parents & Community - Do you want to offer a course?
Do you have a business or special skill set that students would be interested in learning about? Could this help ignite a passion or curiosity in students that guides them on a path towards a future career? If so, we encourage you to consider offering a Mini Course on November 18th and/or November 19th. These will take place during the entire day both days. If interested, please use the link below to submit your course proposal.
