General Information

  • Students will need their earbuds DAILY. These are required for classroom use. You will need to replace them if your child's earbuds are lost or damaged.
  • Students need to be prepared for class daily. This includes having homework, library books, Trapper Keeper, earbuds, pencils, and cap erasers.
  • Students need to turn in any notes or money first thing in the morning to their homeroom teacher.
  • Please remember math, language arts, science, Alabama History, and conduct are all graded and count toward honor roll.
  • Conduct folders will go home every TUESDAY*. The folder and any papers below a grade of 70 must be signed and returned the following day.
*Conduct folders may go home on a different day due to weather, holidays, etc.
  • Individual student textbooks will not be issued for at-home use.


Language Arts (Reading, Writing, Grammar)

  • We will begin with a novel study of the book Because of Winn Dixie. Students will be provided with an in-class copy of the novel. Notes and study guides can be found in the Reading section of your child's Trapper Keeper to study for tests.


  • We will test student comprehension each week or every other week. Comprehension tests will consist of a passage that students will read for the first time with questions to assess their understanding of the text.

Alabama History and Science

Alabama History: Introduction to Alabama regions and primitive people

Science: Introduction to living things


* Notes and study guides can be found in the Alabama History and science sections of your child's Trapper Keeper.


*Any information contained on the study guide may be tested. Make sure you check nightly for study materials.

4-H is offered this year. Parental permission form will be sent home from the 4-H representative. It is the student's responsibility to keep up with all information concerning any events in which they want to participate. Any questions need to be emailed to Sara Smith at sbs0003@auburn.edu.

Mathematics

We begin the year working on place value. We will have a mixed multiplication quiz every week covering factors 0-12. There will be 20 questions in 1 minute. This is taken for a grade.
