Cardinals, we have some exciting news to share with you...next week (January 22-26) we will have a Winter Spirit Week to show support for our winter athletes, as well as drum up school spirit leading to Friday's Winter Ball. Reminder: Today is the last day to buy tickets! Check the schedule below for next week's "Spirit Days." Please note: On "Holiday Day," each class will have its own holiday theme! (Seniors: 4th of July; Juniors: Valentine's Day; Sophomores: Halloween; Freshmen: St. Patrick's Day)

LHS senior Leads, Achieves, Succeeds
Senior Sara Hatfield was recently selected as a recipient of the Comcast Leaders and Achievers Program, a nationwide, nomination-based award that recognizes high school seniors from Comcast communities for their commitment to community service, academics, and leadership. Only one student per school may be nominated by their principal or guidance counselor. To acknowledge these accomplishments, Leaders and Achievers students are awarded one-time scholarships, with a base award of $1,000. Congratulations, Sara!
Science Olympiad Dominates at Regionals
The LHS Science Olympiad Team competed in the 14th annual Science Olympiad Regional Tournament at Camden College earlier this month. According to organizers, a record number of teams competed...and LHS brought home a record number of medals! Please congratulate the following students when you see them:
- Medals in the field of Protein Modeling: Russell Knab, Alexa Sullivan, and Ahmed Alian
- Medals in Chemistry Lab: Declan Barnes and Jean Steele
- 3rd place overall in the Optics category: Josh Drossman and Harshal Nawade
- 2nd place overall in Forensics: Rhea Pathak and Jean Steele
- 2nd place overall in Astronomy: Sophie Gregrowski and Harshal Nawade
- 1st place overall in Fermi Questions: Ian Wang and Rohan Vanaparthi
- 1st place in Disease Detectives: Jean Steele and Disha Bharj
The collective team scores were so high that LHS brought home a team trophy!
Congratulations to ALL 32 team members for their hard work and dedication that earned them a place at the State Championship competition in March. You make LHS proud!

Three Cheers for the Cheerleaders
Congratulations to LHS's Varsity Cheerleaders and coach Adrienne Wasserleben for earning 1ST PLACE in the Small Varsity Coed division at the Monroe "Cheers to a New Year" High School Cheerleading Competition!
The competition took place at Monroe Middle School on January 13th. Way to go, ladies!
S.A.V.E. Helping to Save Wildlife
S.A.V.E. (Students Against Violating the Earth) recently collected supplies to donate to the Mercer County Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. With the combined efforts of students, faculty, and staff, they will be bringing the center many of their Wish List items!
Governor's Teacher/ESP-of-the Year
LHS is proud to announce that Megan Errico and Lucille Winslow have been named the 2017-2018 Governor's Teacher-of-the Year and Governor's Educational Services Professional-of-the-Year, respectively. Mrs. Errico is one of our amazing English teachers, and Mrs. Winslow is one our dedicated and fearless nurses. Thank you for all that you do for the students (and staff) of LHS...we are so proud of you both! Congratulations to Mrs. Errico, Mrs. Winslow, and to the rest of the LTPS honorees!

Mr. LHS Applications
The winner of Mr. LHS is crowned KING, receives a Mr. LHS sash, and a free tuxedo rental for Prom! The winner's escorts will each receive a tiara and earrings.
Remember, multiple show positions are available, including contestants and alternates, escorts, masters of ceremony, stage hands, production crew, music and lighting technicians, and dance choreographers.
All applications are due by Thursday, January 25th, and chosen participants will be announced on or around Monday, January 29th.

Referundum Reminder
Recent editions of The Link, the district's newsletter for the Lawrence community, and the September 2017 Back-to-School Bulletin included articles about an upcoming referendum the Board of Education (BOE) is bringing before Lawrence Township residents for a vote on January 23, 2018.
The referendum vote is less than a week away...Tuesday, January 23rd. Those registered to vote can do so in their normal polling places between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Revised School Calendar
