Week of 10/25/2021

From Mrs. Morrow and Mrs. Fureigh

Oh we LOVED having you all in the building last week for Parent/Teacher Conferences!! Thank you for taking time to visit with teachers and for the support that you give us all each day. Most of all, thank you for sharing your children with us - we are honored to serve our Southside Families! Now on to the next special event--Red Ribbon Week! See the schedule of dress up days below.

Car Drop Off

Every school in the district has an identified car rider drop off and pick up area. It is essential for the safety of students that parents use these designated areas to drop off and pick up their students. Please do not drop off or pick up students outside of the designated areas at each school. Stopping traffic is a safety hazard for all drivers when cars stop unexpectedly in the roadway. Students crossing traffic in any location can be dangerous and should be avoided when possible. Parents that use city streets adjacent to school campuses have become a concern not only to school officials but neighborhood residents. Adjusting schedules slightly to avoid peak pick-up and drop-off times will ensure that time waiting in line will be kept to a minimum. Cabot Public Schools and the City of Cabot thank you for your cooperation as we work to ensure the safety of our students.

Red Ribbon Week - October 25-29

Big picture

Cabot High School will be performing "Freaky Friday" on November 1st for our 3rd and 4th grade students. Permission slips will be sent home and MUST be signed and returned in order for your child to attend. Additionally lunches and recesses for Kindergarten, 2nd, and 3rd grades will be changed on this day only. That updated schedule will be shared once it is finalized.

The play will cost $3. Again, only 3rd and 4th grade students will attend this play.

Thank you!

Hearing and vision testing for K, 1, 2, & 4th grades will be conducted in November and December.

PAW Pride: Self-Direct

We have been meeting with students and talking about October's Capturing Kids' Hearts Character word: Self-Direct. Self-Direction is important in many situations. Having self-direction impacts work ethic and overall success in life. We have enjoyed talking about various athletes and celebrities who never gave up - even when things got really challenging - and have been extremely successful, when they could have just as easily quit. We have loved the discussions and the empathy that students have shown as they watched and learned how people big and small persevered through hard times and made the BEST out of every situation.

Breakfast Times

Breakfast is served daily from 7:30-7:50. Instruction begins at 8:00. Students should be finished eating breakfast by then so they can begin instruction.

Water bottles

Students need to have their water bottles sent to school with them daily. They are encouraged to get drinks throughout the day after recess, P.E., etc. They are especially important this school year because water fountains are closed. We do have water bottle refilling stations in the school. Please make sure to label your child's water bottle with his/her name.

Thank you for your help with this!

Chromebook Safety

  • Cabot Public Schools has taken measures to ensure that district issued Chromebooks are safe to use.
  • The Chromebooks you received from the district are controlled by the Cabot Public Schools network.
  • Once a student logs into the device, the district can track how it is being used, where it is located, and control what is being downloaded.
  • GoGuardian has been installed on each Chromebook. This application restricts access to things on the internet that are inappropriate. Students will only be able to install approved software on their Chromebook. However, no filter will catch everything.
  • Please continue to monitor your child's use with a Chromebook.

Monthly Birthday Celebration

Our day of celebration for October birthdays will be held on:

Friday, October 29th

We will not be celebrating with treats on any other day of the month. We have very strict guidelines that allot only a certain amount of days to be able to have treats throughout the year. If you choose to send treats, please reach out to your child's teacher to discuss types of snacks to bring. Please drop treats off in the office and someone will take them down to the classroom. Parents will not be able to celebrate in the classroom. Thank you for your cooperation!
