The Mighty Knight Connection - Back to School Issue - 17-18
My Finest ME!
Principal's Welcome
On behalf of the Buckingham Staff, welcome to the 2017-2018 School Year!
We are very excited about the start of school with students! Teachers and staff have been working tirelessly around the building - beautifying the grounds and readying our classrooms - hoping to make a best "first impression" when students arrive on Tuesday, September 5th - the first day of school!
Throughout the year, The Mighty Knight Connection E-Newsletter will be published to keep parents informed with District, School and PTO Happenings. I encourage you to read through our monthly newsletters, as they always contain important information such as events, dates and special announcements. In addition, please be sure to visit our school and teacherwebsites as a means of communication – and know we will continue to update and modify information so it is current and informative. Also, Buckingham has a Twitter handle @CB_Buckingham (in addition to many of our teachers) - Be sure to follow!
Again, welcome to what promises to be a wonderful 2017-2018 school year!
Mr. Karl Funseth, Principal
Buckingham Elementary School

Keep it going! Our "Summer Reading Mission" for our Buck Wonder Readers is still going!
Mission #1: Reading Bingo!
Using the Buckingham Reading Bingo Board, complete the challenges and have parents "sign-off" a BINGO - vertical, horizontal, diagonal, or the entire board—it doesn’t matter! Turn in the BINGO board - no later than Wednesday, September 13th to receive a Fall Book Fair Gift Certificate prize!

Mission #2: #BuckWonderReaders

Pictures reading by the pool; at the beach; while on vacation; sitting by a tree; etc. Send in a picture and get a special Book Mark! **Please note: all Tweets must come from a parent account per Twitter minimum age guidelines**

VOLUNTEERING in the CLASSROOM - GET AHEAD in the SUMMERTIME

As of July 2016, Pennsylvania law requires all persons having direct contact with school children obtain background checks and clearances.
For a link to the required forms and background checks, please visit the CBSD Human Resources Volunteer Page by clicking here.
Please note - In most cases, any parent who wishes to support the school through volunteering - (Classroom, Field Trip, Homeroom Parent, PTO Events, etc.) - will be required to obtain PA Clearances - good for 5-years by PA State Law.
Please click the Volunteer Letter for general information about this new law. Click Frequently Asked Questions to read detailed information provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services. Please contact Buckingham Offices for any other questions.
