Conferences are held in the spring for junior high and high school students.
Oct. 19 counts as a teacher workday from Parent/Teacher Conferences.
Did you know our bus drivers practice two evacuations with students each year? This week's district-wide evacuations were through the front door. In spring the evacuation drill will use the back door. Thanks to all of our bus drivers for all they do to keep students safe!
The girls golf team qualified for the State Golf Tournament with a second-place finish at sectionals with Maddie Greenlee's ace on hole #15. The last time girls golf advanced to state as a team was 2004. The state tournament is next week in Kansas City. The team includes Elizabeth Freeman, Maddie Jenkins, Georgia Fraser, Olivia Hanks and Maddie Greenlee.
Congratulations to the girls tennis team for a great season. The team had a 13-6 record, were COC champs and placed third at Districts.

Finley River School students in lifetime recreation presented lifelong plans for pursuing physical, mental, emotional and nutritional health. Presentations included: aerial yoga, rock climbing, sailing, bonsai, softball, swimming and base jumping.
Making music
Why are students playing the ukulele in pajamas? Because it was spirit week at OMS and these students happened to have a ukulele quiz Oct. 10 — on pajama day.
Fall Fun on the FFA Farm
North Elementary first graders had fun at the FFA Fall Festival Oct. 11. Led by OHS FFA and animal science students, elementary students played outdoor games, went on a hayride, painted pumpkins and got to pet various farm animals.

First graders at East Elementary had lots of fall fun on a field trip to McKenna Farm and Pumpkin Patch.
Pumpkin Decorating Contest
Mrs. Link’s fifth grade class is holding a pumpkin-decorating contest to raise money for Care to Learn. Students will decorate their pumpkins at home and bring to school Monday, Oct. 15. Voting will take place during the week of Oct. 15-18. Parents can vote during Parent/Teacher Conferences. Voting will consist of donating coins or dollars into brown paper sacks placed behind each of the pumpkins.
Rules:
- No carving!
- Objects or materials of any kind may be pinned or glued to the pumpkins.
- Students may draw or paint on their pumpkins.
- Participation is completely voluntarily and will be done on their own time.

Suddenlink visits Adopt-A-Class
On Oct. 11 Suddenlink visited Ms. Everding’s third-grade class at South Elementary. Suddenlink told students about their services and then did an engineering activity with the class, teaching students about teamwork, delegation and trying different ideas.

Healthcare careers
The helicopter pad, the fitness center and the ambulance bay — OJH eighth graders learned about all kinds of cool things during a field trip this week to Cox South Hospital. The field trips will continue through the month of October until all eighth graders have participated. Students not attending this week's hospital visits spent time shadowing professionals in the area.

NHS welcomes new members
The Pride of Ozark Marching Band
The OHS Band competed in the Bentonville Marching Band Invitational Oct. 6, placing second in its class and earning Outstanding Color Guard. In finals, the band placed sixth.
Mathematics competition
The OHS math team participated in a mathematics competition Oct. 6 at Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar. Congratulations to Abigail Wampler who placed fifth in senior individual! The following students attended: Joshua Cox, Josie Glenn, Olivia Sappington, Belle Davis, Grace Davis, Dylan Fritz, Addison Reynolds, Lauren Fergerson, Katie Marshall, Jessica Marshall and Emily McColloch.
Rifle teams place third
Ozark Rifle team placed third in Sporter and third in Precision at The Montgomery Bell Classic last weekend.
Practice makes perfect
Mr. Love's Drafting I class is working hard drafting a machinist block to practice design, modeling, tool usage, layout and lettering.
