The Middle Atlantic States have a verity of minerals. In the Appalachian Mountains rich minerals such as gold, iron, platinum, mercury, silver, and tin are found. Other regions depend on getting these minerals from here. The Middle Atlantic States depend on the Southern for major crops and oil.

The Middle Atlantic states are glacial plateaus and plains, coastal beaches with barrier islands and mountains. The Chesapeake Bay, Susquehanna, Potomac and James Rivers were formed by melting glaciers. Lush forests populated with diverse wildlife cover the wetlands.
